The melody around the 1:00 minute mark is very similar to a sung melody I heard in another doom band, but for the life of me I cannot find it. I thought it was Katatonia, but I think I listened to their entire discography today. Then I thought maybe October Tide, but I don't hear any song of theirs with a lot of clean singing. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Sounds like something out of Discouraged Ones, but it's probably just a similar set of notes rather than a rip-off.

I'm trying to remember a music video I saw a few years from the 80s. It was a female artist (not a band), heavy metal or possibly hair metal - in any case, very typical 80s sound, and it was a ballad. I think at least part of it was black and white. That's all I can remember unfortunately but I really liked the song and would love to hear it again. Does that rind a bell for anyone? It was not Lita Ford, Doro, or Joan Jett.

Instantly reminded me of Viva Emptiness. Are you sure it's not Katatonia?

No, it's not a song off Discouraged Ones or Viva Emptiness, listened to both of those albums in full in the process of trying to figure out what song it was. I'm starting to doubt it was Katatonia though. But I'm having difficulty placing the song itself, and it's still bugging me.

Maybe I'll wake up one day and think "Bandname!" then go to my music library and repeat "Bandname... bandname... bandname..." and listen to every song by bandname, and find it that way.

The same happened not too long ago (in fact it was just last week) when I had another snippet of a song constantly appearing in my head for some reason. It was the high pitched tremolo riff in Paradise by Darkest Hour. In the process of looking for where I heard that sound before, I listened to a lot of post-black and blackgaze type bands. So it is possible the vocal melody I am thinking of that is just like that one riff in the new Draconian song could be from a non-doom band.

I found it! I was right, it wasn't a band I thought to look at. I went through my library alphabetically and looked at all the bands that had plays and might have been of the genre I was thinking - mostly doom. But I came across Hypocrisy - with many melodic death metal bands I would cruise by them, but I had a mnemonic jolt and had a feeling, so I started with Catch 22 (2008 version).

Sure enough, the song is All Turns Black by Hypocrisy. The one of a very few (if any others exist) they have where they sing clean.

It's the opening track from Octavarium, "The root of all evil".

You're not talking about Nargaroth, who released an album (Jahreszeiten) with four songs, each one representing one of the four seasons, are you? http://www.metal-archives.com/albums/Na ... ten/234612

There used to be a band here called Forgotten Land, who were removed a year or two ago (for playing a form of ambient). Solo project from the US with three albums about the seasons (didn't get to summer).

Probably not Mortualia, but I know some people got winter and then spring vibes from his first and second albums.

I remember about three or four years ago, seeing a review for a brutal death metal band, and thinking the album seemed like it pretty cool, going by what I read about it.

The review was for the band's debut, and the album was released in the late 1990s, if I remember correctly. I have no idea if they're still together or not.

The lyrics seemed to be more obscure emotion kind of stuff. I read the lyric sheet on later albums, and they went down the brutal OTT sadistic gore/sexual sadism path lyrically on those albums. Kind of odd, considering their first album had more "normal" lyrics (yes, I know, this is brutal death metal, which rarely ever has lyrics NOT of the sexual sadism/misogyny variety (unfortunately; call me easily offended (even though I'm not; after all, would South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut be one of my favorite movies if I was easily offended?), but even though I know they're not meant to be taken seriously, I wish brutal death metal bands wouldn't write lyrics like that), and most bands who write gore lyrics on one album but not another wrote their gory lyrics on earlier albums, not the later ones (Death and Necrophagist, though neither are "brutal" death metal, are two bands that wrote gore lyrics when they started out before changing their lyrical themes on their later material).

But the band/album seemed intriguing going by what I read. What album was it being reviewed? Any ideas? It seemed like something I'd rather like.

So, as soon as I saw this thread, it reminded me of a song my buddies and I used to jam back in the day.

It starts off with a skit of sorts, with a Catholic priest talking to a presumably hot slutty chick. The priest is comforting her and telling her that though she has sinned, he is there for her. She then asks something like, "Would you do anything for me?" The priest responds, yes. Then she asks in a deep demonlike voice, "Will you fuck me?" Then the song starts.

It's been years, but I can not fucking remember who does it.

Spawn Of Possession, on Cabinet. Working from memory I think it's the song Church Of Deviance.

Ha ha, it's cool. ;)

I have one for you guys. I was watching Cyborg with Van Damme during the weekend and the movie starts with the main antagonist saying something like "I like the misery... I like the dead... I LIKE THIS WORLD!!!", and I'm pretty sure there's a metal song that uses that sample. Anyone remembers which one?

Hello, everyone. Can anyone please ID the song that is playing from 6:25 through 8:09 in the linked YouTube video below? I'm getting a heavy Cradle of Filth vibe from the song. I've never been a huge Cradle of Filth fan, but I would like to know the name of the song.

I appreciate any and all help.

Thank you.

Hey guys and Gals...

About a year ago I was listening to a band on youtube.

Now for the life of me I can't remember the band and album.

The CD cover art had a cartoon like drawing, almost "Ed Repka" like.

The cover had a man in a orange rubber raft on the water with a shark swimming under it.

The band sounds like Iron Maiden / Helloween power metal.

Anybody have any idea what I,m looking for?

Thanks in advance.

Can anyone help me find this? I'm looking for a certain death metal demo that I remember from a while ago. I really liked the artwork and want to show it to my artist friend for my own demo. It had a deep red and black colour, and was of a cave with what I remember to be far of "sparkles" or something. I remember stalactites and stalagmites being the centre. The band it was from is Mexico and from what I remember was in a group of bands kinda like Les Legions Noire (but Mexican). Any help? even just groups like LLN?

Guys, I swear I'm going crazy. I've spent something like two hours searching for this band that I heard about six months ago, and I feel like they should be relatively easy to find, but so far they've proven quite elusive. This band was either French or Canadian; their lyrics were entirely in French. If I remember correctly, they played black metal, but it was artsy-fartsy, too-goofy-for-its-own-good black metal, with lots of oddball bits and sections where it's just the vocalist yelling over quiet instrumentation. I think I remember the lyrics being weird as well. I remember the cover art being black, for some reason, or at least monochrome. The album must have been released post-2010; I think the band is a relatively well-known, established entity and this was their third or fourth full-length which I just decided to sit in upon. And yes, I'm fairly sure it's not Peste Noire - their name might've started with an A? Anyways, yeah, this is driving me nuts and any help you could give me would be appreciated.
