Since the other two download threads had become overrun with posts and requests that violated the rules that were laid out at the beginning, we had to lock them. In the process, we came up with an idea for a different kind of download thread. In here, you can post links to band websites that offer downloads of ENTIRE releases for free. Not just samples, not just a couple of songs, but FULL albums, demos, EPs, live shows, etc. And this is the ONLY thing you can post. No links to Rapidshare, Megaupload, or similar sites, and no links to download 'blogs (UNLESS the 'blog takes its links from official download pages) or other non-band affiliated download locations (i.e. Vibrations of Doom)! If you do not follow this rule, YOUR POSTS WILL BE DELETED! Anyone who makes repeat offenses WILL BE BANNED! Further, NO REQUESTS, although the nature of this thread precludes requests. Request posts will also be deleted. If you are in a band, you can post indirect download links if you wish, but please make sure you state that you're in the band! Also, the same rule applies: only entire releases. No links to a Myspace page where people can sample a few tracks.

I'll start with an example of what is acceptable here.

http://www.anacrusis.us/anacrusis%20media/anac_media.html

This is for the American thrash/progressive metal band Anacrusis. This is a pretty well-known example of a band offering free downloads, and many of you may already have all of the material included in the link, but it perfectly fits with what this thread is all about.

http://www.timetombs.net/abhorrence/download.html

Here's the great Finnish death metal demo band Abhorrence. Another rather popular example.

So, if you find a band with free downloads on their site, don't hesitate to come here and share it with the rest of us, but MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND AND FOLLOW THE RULES! Enjoy!

One last thing: please don't post large images and URLs. Try to avoid posting album covers in general, and shorten the URL if necessarly. If you do make a mistake here, the post will be edited to make it more viewer friendly if the need arises.

Here is a recent favorite band of mine. American black metal, very VERY good stuff. They are called DIS. This is the entire discography.

One of my favorite freebies: Crionic. Their first album "Different" is a minor thrash classic. Has kind of a Sepultura-gone-tech sound.

Question:

There are 4 full Project Hate albums available to download. On their official message board (run by Lord K) a topic was created containing a link to a torrent of the 4 albums. The torrent itself is not hosted by the band, but it is fully sanctioned by them. Would this be ok to post?

Pantheon (FIN): "Languishment" LP

Doom/black? Marvellous piano interludes between the metal tracks -- this is worth getting solely for those. Let the man describe the rest:

"My plan was to take some ideas from black metal, or at least from what I like about the genre, and then add other influences relatively freely. As a result we have about a half an hour of heavily distorted guitars, often in tremolo, some sort of shrilly screams and a bunch of other instruments topped with a generous amount of reverb and a hint of tasty Parmesan, all packed in 30 megs of MP3s."

Immaculate - Thrash Kill N' Destroy (2007)

Over the top thrash that is somewhat technical and reminds me of Ulysess Siren a fair bit.

Falls of Rauros, atmospheric black/folk in the vein of Agalloch and Empyrium.

On the official Myspace, they offer:

- Into the Archaic LP (2006)
- Of Stone and the Stars in the Sky Promo (2007)

Free for download. The links are Megaupload, but they're legit, I swear .

Damn... I wanted to post Ol Sonuf, but the 1+hr demo is no longer available! Sucks for you guys.
