Japanese death/doom stalwarts Coffins will release their sixth full length, Sinister Oath, on March 29 through Relapse Records. From the press release:

Quote:
Japan’s COFFINS return with their crushing new full-length album, Sinister Oath. Recorded ahead of the band's 25th anniversary in Tokyo, Sinister Oath further cements COFFINS' legacy as one of the most putrid sounding and uncompromising Old School Death Metal bands in the world.

From the chest-pounding, drudgy opening of "Spontaneous Rot" to the hammer-crushing riffage of "Things Infestation" thereafter, Sinister Oath creeps and crawls through a cavernous space firmly rooted in no-frills Death Metal. The band's signature sound is forever-present: equal parts bleak, doomy, crusty, disgusting, and wholly heavy.

Featuring album art by Axel Hermann (Asphyx, Bloodbath, Demolition Hammer, Sodom, and more,) Sinister Oath is COFFINS at their most vile!

Tracklisting:
1. B.T.C.D.
2. Spontaneous Rot
3. Forced Disorder
4. Sinister Oath
5. Chain
6. Everlasting Spiral
7. Things Infestation
8. Headless Monarch
9. Domains of Black Miasma

Spontaneous Rot has been released as the first single:
Spoiler: show

You know what you're getting with new Coffins material, groovy, crusty Celtic Frost influenced death/doom, and the first single is very much in that vein. This band usually always delivers when it comes to this style so I will definitely be listening to the album when it's out.

That's some great news indeed! Coffins rules, the artwork is great and the song is nasty with some filthy grooves.

Coffins and Kruelty are proof that no one can bring the unga bunga quite like the Japanese.

Amazing news. I was just banging their last album and wondering why it’d been 5 or more years since they’d dropped one. New song’s exactly what I want out of Coffins. Can’t wait.

The second single is out, this one is a bit more uptempo.

That second single rips! They're 2/2, can't wait to hear the full thing now.

Typical Coffins crusty/d-beaty song, but ya know what, it's dumb as fuck, it's grimy as fuck, and it proves yet again that all the nowadays caveman bands who desperately want to be them don't have shit on them.

Second track kicks fucking ass. These songs are decidedly heavier than Coffins has sounded in quite a while — they actually bring to mind the more brainless, primitive direction of the debut. I can already tell I’m gonna be banging this album all year. Bring it on.

I hate to be "that guy" but: I can't believe they OK'd that nintendo sounding snare, when their whole thing is supposed to be sounding dirty and primitive.

Here's the full album stream:

Definitely more of that filthy, riff laded death/doom this band is so good at.

Oh shit, I stopped keeping up with new Coffins after The Fleshland was so underwhelming. I might have to correct that mistake.

I mean, I got into them way late, but I dug the Fleshland *shrug* (along with lots of others of course). Need to check this one out.
