It's hard to believe that it's almost Halloween already, and next thing you know, it'll be Thanksgiving and then Christmas, my least favorite time of year.
So what can we expect to see next year that we didn't get this year, like new music from TRIPTYKON? What are you hoping to see next year, MORBID ANGEL maybe, or INQUISITION? (Yeah, I know, and I don't fucking care) Who hasn't put out anything new lately that are overdue for new material?
My short list would include these bands,
BELPHEGOR
BATHUSHKA
DIMMU BORGIR(An album of nothing but cover songs doesn't count)
ENTHRONED
MELECHESH
NILE
ROTTING CHRIST
Who else do you want to hear new music from next year?

Bruce Dickinson, Sonata Arctica and Judas Priest ought to make the early part of the year pretty exciting.

Eucharist announced he/they’re working on a new album. I know the black metal material wasn’t much to everyone’s liking but I’m curious to hear what direction the new stuff will go.

As far as stuff that's been announced, I'm definitely hyped for the new Judas Priest (like many others here I'm sure). For bands who have material in the works, I'm very eager to hear a new album from Blood Incantation. Reading over some of the replies, I'm also excited to hear new material from Nile, Deicide, and Funebrarum. I can't recall when the last update was, but I'm pretty sure Bell Witch and Aerial Ruin are working on a follow-up to Stygian Bough Vol. 1. Their first album together is one of my favorite recent funeral doom albums, so I'm hoping that we'll get Vol. 2 sometime next year.

How can you guys listen to all these band lists and trim the good stuff from the shitty stuff? Do you guys play one song of each band to see how it goes or something like that? Or you make a playlist with all these guys' songs.

I'm a fan of NOVEMBERS DOOM as well, some new music would be cool. I have the scarecrow from the cover of The Pale Haunt Departure tattooed on my back.

I hope that we'll finally see the new Triosphere album that they've been working on for a good few years now. It'll be ten years since the last one.

Others who have mentioned working on new stuff / confirmed they have been in the studio.

Avantasia
Bruce Dickinson
Cradle of Filth
Dismember (I hope)
Fear Factory
Killswitch Engage
My Dying Bride
Nile

Some years ago, Divine Eve posted a rough mix of the upcoming album, but since the video's no longer on YouTube, I fear we won't hear anything new anymore of them.

Paradise Lost will release a new album later next year. I have no idea what to expect, but I'm sure it will be good!

Who knows what Dawn and Coroner are doing, I wouldn't expect anything from them next year but it would be nice. Anata are for sure recording a new album, their last Facebook post was about Fredrik Schalin recording vocals.

DECEMBER 3, 2012 (2 YEARS AFTER HEART SURGERY)

KING DIAMOND Signs New Deal With METAL BLADE RECORDS

Quote:
When asked if there are plans to release new music in 2013, King replied, "That is absolutely the plan. Something has to go totally wrong for us not to do that. We will write material this fall. Hopefully during the autumn, we might do something here in the U.S., after the festivals. But we will not be doing a long tour, it is still a test, we will see what happens. We do not want to take stupid chances, it has to be done properly. And we have a lot to do still, but things are looking good."

Cool! At least judging by the ferociousness of their live shows I'm cautiously optimistic. If any of the retro thrashers can produce a worthwhile comeback, it'd be DH.

Dark Tranquility & Paradise Lost too...

DT really need to reinvent something, they're on autopilot since 2010.
For PL I absolutely don't know what to expect, but I keep my fingers crossed for something fresh and new.

New music from Skelethal, Mortuary Spawn, Vaticinal Rites, Coagulate, Blood Loss, Sewer Fiend, Impest, Impending Rot, Venefixion, Asphyx and Curse of Flesh would get my attention.

Whenever the new Deceased comes out I will be one happy guy.
