I have no idea who is or isn't working on new stuff but I'm hoping for something from Opeth and Mastodon.

I for one hope Bryce keeps his word and there is a new Silver Talon album in 24 because I'm getting bored with DaD.

I believe Nightwish have an album planned. Let's hope they finally make a good album with Floor.

From Japan I am hoping for new Maximum the Hormone and Aldious.

I think Decadence and Decay is fantastic and will be difficult to top.

I think it's tentatively confirmed that Visigoth will have new music next year. We will have to see.

Last I saw someone asked Kai Hahto on Facebook if the new Nightwish album will be like Human:Nature when he was posting about recording the Orchestra and he replied it's "nothing like HN" and "heavy metal".

(From memory, I actually quite liked a few tracks on H:N - Pan, Endlessness, Tribal - although I would like to see Emppu get back some of the riff and leads focus he had once upon a time; not expecting them to go back to their 90s Power Metal style, much as I love it I can accept they've moved past that, but some more guitar-focus overall would be cool)

Galder was seemingly working on some new Old Man's Child material this year if his social media is anything to go by, maybe we get a new album next year. Here's hoping, anyway.

Scanner, Riot V and Sanctuary have new albums on the way. Long time nostalgic favorites of mine, thanks for the good news.

I know I said Savatage in the 2023 thread but I am pretty sure they plan to release the new and their last album this year.

New video for Masquerade of Madness, filmed back when the song originally dropped but wasn't released until now.

For real.

It's an interesting dichotomy: he was arguably the most prolific metal artist from 1982 to 2004, releasing 18 full lengths, 2 live albums, and a couple of EPs.

Since 2004? The polar opposite: exactly one studio album, one live album/DVD, and one single.

2010.
And he's been touring since at least 2013. So, it's difficult to cite his health as the reason for his inactivity regarding new music.

I posted in another thread the BM press release from December 3, 2012. King Diamond signed his new deal with Metal Blade and said new music was coming in 2013.

Keep in mind all the press around his heart surgery was that he had a near death experience and had so many ideas for a new album.

SANCTUARY can't be the same without Warrel Dane's vocals. Their last record, "The Year The Sun Died" is awesome.

"Danish (or Texan?) Democracy", the new King Diamond album, will arrive at the end of the century.
The jarhead of Brian Slagel will be the CEO of Metal Blade Records by then.

Let's see what happens. I admit when I checked out Witherfall it did not draw me in but if that vocalist is making a Sanctuary album we may see a different side of him.

They did record and release Requiem which had an entire new piece of music in it, at Roadburn 2019. Ut yeah, a full studio record would be.

THE VISION BLEAK is working on a new record. Last one was from 2016.

KULL is working on record n° 2. Need me some of that barbarian metal.

I’d love to see anything new from TURILLI/LIONE RHAPSODY. They have been silent for a long time but are the better of the two Rhapsodies.

MANOWAR is re-recording Sign of the Hammer. Not a big fan of the other re-recordings but curious to hear what they’ll make of it.

And would it be too much to ask for new WINTERSUN? The Forest Seasons date back to 2017.

As many others have said:

TRIPTYKON......

Monotheist (yes that is the first Triptykon album, not the last Frost), Eparistera Daimones and Melana Chasmata are the triumvirate of what extreme, dark, sinister , HEAVY Metal should be....all of them in a 4 year old gasp... then came Requiem, even if Grave Eternal is massive, and gloriuos, it should have been a mere appetizer of a yet unreleased 4th album, wich is 3 years overdue.

Man I just could not get into Tryptikon at all. Even with the giant dinosaur transformer name… the material just didn’t do it for me… doh well.

Maybe a new My Dying Bride I hope…. I’m craving English Death/Doom.

They've already recorded it, so I'd be surprised if we don't see it next year.

I just realised that next year it will be 5 years since Teitanblood's last album, and all their album releases have always had a 5 year gap (2009/2014/2019) so....

Joey Belladonna posted on Instagram recently about being in the studio, doing his vocals on the next Anthrax album. So I'm pumped for that!

aw hell yeah, rather enjoyed that album they did in 2016. Hope it's not some kind of monkey's paw deal like the last Megadeth album was.

Manticora has their new album "Mycelium" set for a release on January 26th.

Skyforger have been working on a new one for a while, I believe there are a few finishing touches left and it should be out sometime next year.

There's gonna be a new Acerus album next year - the only source I've found as of right now is this FB post from High Spirits. Daniel Corchado doing trad metal has already proven to be a great thing, and hopefully this album continues the winning streak.
