Has anyone else been getting into the new one from Switzerland's Schammasch? It's mind blowing and needs to be loved on and discussed. It's basically epic black metal, very deliberate and heavily layered. The production is massive - the same guy that produces Triptykon I believe, which you can hear in those big, watery clean passages. The heavy parts are build ups that instead of boiling into infernos of riffage ala Behemoth (no doubt an influence here), build and then disintegrate into long, haunting ambient and clean instrumental. The atmosphere is vividly evoked.

What I like the most though is the spirit of experimentation throughout - bizzare guitar fills, unexpected grooves, a varied vocal attack, and the production: it sounds huge, every instrument is clear and mixed well, every note sounds deliberate. A completely professionally executed experimental black metal album that crushes everything else in modern black metal.
