Looking forward to this. You reminded me that I need to give them a listen again. And congratulations for beating Subrick to the thread. :)

This should be awesome, the last album was fucking incredible. Atmosphere is a thing I don't really expect from death metal, but that album had it up the ass. It fucking ripped, too. Should be killer.

Not sure I understand what kind of atmosphere you are looking for but that is one of the main attractions for me to death metal. Particularly oldschool death metal is littered with it. The eeriness of the Finnish bands like Depravity, and Purtenance, Incantation and the other cavernous bands etc.

Well, yeah OSDM has lots of murk, but I feel that's more incidental than a conscious attempt at making it "atmospheric". I meant an overt atmosphere, something more than just sounding "cavernous" or "murky". For me, Seven Chalices makes me visualize a decaying church with stained glass windows in the middle of a putrid swamp. Most death metal doesn't bring vivid images to my mind like that.

Atmosphere and death metal are so good for each other. I wish they'd appear in public far more often.

Haha, doubt that though. With Teitanblood and Imprecation mentioned, the front page of the metal sub-forum right now almost looks like a snapshot of what one would see on the NWN forums

But that said, this can only be good news!

Maybe all the members of Teitanblood are just planning to kill themselves next year.

What a lame album title.

YES!!!

Seven Chalices is one of the most evil albums ever. I'm a fan of everything I've heard from them so far; stoked for this!

Heard about this at exactly 12 01am on new years day, and though I might have been drunk, the sheer excitement this evoked had me drooling... so, yes, I am also keen as fuck to buy both vinyl and cd versions of this when it comes out.

Not sure they're official but both font and title are dissapointing. I thought the first Teitanblood record had even more atmosphere..

Pre-ordered mine on the 12th, along with Tribulation's The Formulas of Death. Priority shipping was only like 30 cents more through AJNA, so I figure it will show up this weekend.

I'm sad it's even longer than Seven Chalices. I love that album but it's so long and so god damn OPPRESSIVE and relentless that I don't put it on very often. Still, the band has earned at least one insta-purchase on the strength of their debut. I like the simple and direct album title. It wouldn't work for a lot of outfits, but Teitanblood are so fucking evil.

Not only is it even longer, it also looks like it has either one or maybe zero interlude tracks, and the songs are tremendously long. Could be interesting or a chore to sit through. We'll have to see, I guess!

Just listened to it for first time. I'm out of breath and completely devestated after that first listen. I have no words to describe the chaos that takes place on this record. From the very start until nearly the very end, it never lets up. I feel totally drained.

Good god. This album hurts... in a good way. If Seven Chalices was a ritual to summon some unspeakable evil, this album is what happens when that evil gets given free reign to run amok. At least, that's the impression I'm getting so far.

I've tried to get into this band quite a few times but their sound is simply too much for me. That new track is fucking insane too.

I'm a bit disappointed... They could be playing an open E chord and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. How can a guitar sound suck so bad?

Hahahaha! No!

Seriously, the guitars are just a mess. I don't remember Seven Chalices or even Purging Tongues sounding this bad.

Album is a wall of distortion, yes, but I can make out all the riffs just fine. Just turn your stereo up! Seriously though, this album rips, but I think I still like Purging Tongues/Sanctified Dysecdysis just a bit more. The best part of this album in my opinion are the guitar leads; I'm pretty sure it's all whammy bar acrobatics but damn does ol' dude have it down to a science.

Massive album, probably my favorite of 2014 so far. The longer songs are totally working, the guitar tone is perfect in my opinion, Porman likes his death metal clean and without identity! The riffs are thick, cavernous but totally distinguishable and these leads, nommmmmmmmmmmmmm!

The production sounds perfectly solid to me, even on crappy Youtube quality. Porman should probably never check out Grave Upheaval...

I'm pretty sure that split with raise R'lyeh from the sea the first time it was played. Our mortal world can only take so much cosmic horror.

Instant best-of-year material. Cannot stop listening to it. The sound is the best the band has had and the songs themselves certainly don't disappoint after the amazing Purging Tongues and Woven Black Arteries releases. For a long record it really doesn't feel it's length either. Plenty of good things to say about it but overall a defining record for this band.

EDIT: Yes! A split with Grave Upheaval or for that matter Antediluvian would be welcome. The one with Necros Christos was definitely decent.

I will listen to it through my AKG headphones and see if there's any difference.

"Porman likes his death metal clean and without identity!"

Not really. But this album sounds like it has worse production than their previous works.

Yeah, I've listened to Grave Upheaval. I find it boring and pretty uninspiring.

I don't think this kind of death metal is something for you then. Production is perfect on this album and the guitar tone is massive.

Another vote for a Teitanblood/GU split. Could be an instant classic. Or it could split the Earth in two and kill us all. ;-)
