Well, just a curiosity of mine, but is someone band members read our thread or are registered to Metal Archives forum?

Anyone knows?

Discuss...

Well of course. Many board members are musicians and have bands of their own. If you are talking about relatively famous ones, I wouldn't know of any but I wouldn't rule it out.

The most famous one who immediately comes to mind is LordOminous, who is Alestorm's keyboardist.

Umm, aside from that... I know Lord Worm's been here at least once or twice ("Howdy."), and I'm sure there have been more before my time here.

The drummer for Cirith Ungol did some reviews, but I've never seen him on the forums.

King Fowley drops in and posts way every once in a while, as do the guys in Bound by Entrails. One of the Morbid Saint guys was on here for a little while, but left after a disagreement with other forum members.

And he should do so more often, dammit.

I wouldn't have thought that people from this forum would chase off a member of Morbid fucking Saint, what happened?

I know Fenriz uses the main website, but anyone with half a brain realizes that he wouldn't post on the forums. Even if he did, he wouldn't say who he was. He gave thanks to the site on the liner notes of one of the newer Darkthrone albums.

There was a bit of dissatisfaction with the packaging of the Thrashaholic boxed set released by the band themselves, and justifiably so. If I recall correctly, not all three discs had their own trays and were CD-Rs instead of CDs. Perhaps that might not seem like such a terrible thing at face value, but for approximately $40 any customer would reasonably expect there to be a little more care involved in those kinds of details, especially considering how long and anxious fans have waited for a proper reissue and the cult following Morbid Saint has gained over the years as a result. I don't think the band was intentionally trying to get one over on anyone, they just didn't perhaps make the most savvy decision of how the design could have been handled nor was anyone here being outright malicious about it.

40 USD? With that price the discs should have been at least real proper factory pressed CD's and not CDR's.

There is/has been quite a few. Lee Atlus Exodus/Heathen is cool as fuck when he drops by though it has been a while.

As for Jim from Morbid Saint he is also a top guy and took time to answer anybody's questions. Hope he will drop in again some time and while were are talking Morbid Saint I also remember Pat Lind dropping in...if you are reading, any word of the new album! :)

Let's not forget that the guy behind Caina is, or was at one point a fairly known regular (Tantalus). Always thought that was kinda cool.

And of course, DeathRiderDoom is in Razorwyre, very cool trad band from Kiwiland.

Also, I think one of the Destroyer 666 guys posts here. I don't remember his forum name.

That whole fallout with the guy from Morbid Saint ended up screwing me over. I ordered that box set, accidentally had it shipped to my old address, re-ordered it with the correct address, never received it. I don't know what happened there, but there was certainly some confusion. I don't think any of it was deliberate.

While people certaintly were dissapointed with what they paid for (including me), and pointed it out here in the forum, there was a civilized tone in that thread. I don't think the Morbid Saint dude left because of that.

There was. But he did.

Even Matt from DDR came in saying that he wouldn't have a problem properly releasing the thing, but everything the guy would say was around "we've been fucked by labels, don't want anything with them". I remember posting a lot on that thread and he did feel personally attacked from the critique, at least as far as I could read it. I even remember that you (it was you wasn't it? :p) got screwed over by the customs and ended up paying an absurd amount for it.

"Black metal sucks" on their second album I think, that pissed off some dudes here and they got into an intense word-fight because of that.

The guitarist for Begrime Exemious has written quite a few reviews here, although most of them were written before the band took off. I'm not sure how much he uses/used the forums though.

I used to be a mod on Thrash Unlimited with Tom from Lich King. He knows a lot of people hate his music and he doesn't seem to care. He loves to poke fun and joke about how his band is the most awesome ever and gets a kick out of people taking that seriously.

The dude from Wormphlem used to post here.

Ron Vento of Aurora Borealis has posted in the past. I remember waaay back, one of my very first trades was with him (it was even for an AB album), and I didn't even realize it til we'd started talking in private. I must not have been very observant in those days, as "AURORA" was in his user name, his location was listed as Maryland, and as I said, I was trading something for an Aurora Borealis CD. I was like, oh, uh, can you sign that before you send it?

Demontage? Black slash heavy metal? OH MY GOD MY GOD OH MY MY GOD.

Also, I'm not an audiophile, but I don't really know what the physical or aural difference is between CDs and CD-Rs, in reference to the Morbid Saint argument. Packaging and double stacking the disc, sure, but not so much between those. Here is my reference point, as well.

Jon Kevill of Warbringer posted here for a while. I don't recall his handle, something involving storms or torment or something. He posted multiple times in a thread discussing how much musicians make touring.
