So it seems there are rumours circulating online about them being active again and writing new material, though with what lineup exactly is anyone's guess. Someone filed a report for their MA entry, but it was closed since no verifiable source was provided.

This Facebook post is the only other thing I could find regarding the matter, allegedly -consistent with the report- the information comes from Anssi Kartela himself: https://www.facebook.com/OldSchoolFinni ... 5822184128

Does anyone know more about this?

Interesting/pretty cool if true (and stable this time) in any case.

They originally disbanded due to the main songwriter Henriksson's passing away, so it will be hard to guess what kind of style they're going for at this time. It seems like the ideal time for old staples of the genre to reunite. Let's hope the magic wasn't entirely in Henriksson's hands.

Will be interesting to see what they will be able to come up with though I'm not holding my breath for anything good. I guess that's just me being cynical, but rarely do these reunions come up with anything much of value. At least in the new recordings department, even if the live act might be up to snuff.

This band kills!! Those demos are thick as molasses. Some of the heaviest death metal I've heard. Maybe they'll record an album. I'd listen.

And after Convulse and Purtenance another Ancient Ones awaken from his slumber...

Let it wake and then praise, let Finland's magma flood the world!

not to mention demigod and abhorrence - granted abhorrence only did a couple of (awesome) gigs; no new material

I thought that was the band where everyone had turned Christian, but I'm probably confusing them with someone else.

I saw them in Tuska this summer, it was a decent show and they looked like they enjoyed it, but I wouldn't call it awesome. Not overmuch passion, really.

i saw them there also (as well as in hammer open air) and i would :p

ok, they weren't particularly energetic on stage (part of which i'd attribute to the shit timeslot resulting in a smallish crowd), but not standing still either and their playing was really tight (on both gigs)

Or was it Darkified? No, I don't think so. I just remember one of those atmospheric OSDM bands I like collectively turned Christian.

I call hearsay until something actually official is said. And even then it's best to take this with a pinch of salt, more so even if the band's reuniting without one of its key elements, which was also the reason of them disbanding in the first place. I'm very cynical about all this, even if they do reunite. A few shows wouldn't hurt though, as well as someone reissuing their first demo.

I wouldn't be surprised if the did reunite. Necropsy, Purtenance, Convulse, Abhorrence and who else have already reformed. It's genuinely a trend.

Well the finnish school of death metal might be the best one after the dutch one so i cant say im displeased with this trend.
