Any self respecting death or thrash metal fan should have had come across this band. Their demos and compilation are legendary status. Anyway they are releasing their debut.

http://www.blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?m ... mID=187917

Not so sure about them re recording their legendary 80's stuff but still rather stoked for this.

That's great news! They were always one of the really good ones that got away!

The last 5 tracks are re-recordings of the old demos.

One song was already released:

I didn't even know these guys were doing an album. The new song doesn't sound too bad. I'm curious to see how this turns out.

It sounds like he's yelling "Führer!" near the end.

saw them at MDF last year and was beyond impressed. I really dig the new song and will be grabbing this as soon as I can. And good for them for re-recording the old tracks...they never got a release beyond those demos/compilation and the sound is a little weaker than it should be for such intense music, especially as far as the drums are concerned. Having heard them play most of those classics live I think I can say they will do them justice!

As someone who knows the band pretty much since decades, I'm more than surprised for the quality of the track and the production. The song actually reminds me of Criminal's Scapegoat, but way better. I think Topelberg left the band in the very best moment.

Pleasant surprise of the year! I actually haven't heard of these guys before, but I'm glad that I did now.

Be nice to finally add more to the collection than just the two compilations out there that compiled all the demos. Sounds good and I'm looking forward to it.

So is this the record for taking longest time to release a full length album after a band's formation?

Thanks for the info! We were talking with a chilean at this last Hellfest but he didn't tell us anything about that.
I saw them live some years ago, they were amazing and I bought the compilation + DVD album inmediatelly.

Nice good for them. I am not really familiar with the band, but wanted to say this thread title made me laugh somehow.

It's not surprising. The band was inactive so many years that people started to forget about it. Also, Anton's reputation on the scene is not the best - especially in some circles - and Criminal has been heavily critizised over the years, compared to a poor man's sepultura (Chaos A.D. When Pentagram announced to reform, was only to play live and since they already did that in 00's for some selected shows again, people here saw this as a cash-grab.

See that Betrayed, Atomic Agressor and Death Yell are also resurrecting and preparing new material, being all of them classic bands of early chilean extreme metal scene. Dorso has been pretty much the only band of the very early chilean metal scene that has been active since the 80's.

I'm definitely interested in these CHilean bands. I have a copy of Atomic Aggressor around somewhere and I remember really liking it a few years ago. Also want to get my hands on Death Yell and Betrayed stuff!

AA and DY released a split not long ago and from I've heard from Toño, Betrayed got a new singer and it's finishing a new full lenght.

Also, D.O.D. (early Thrash from the 80's) has been playing live in the later years, even they opened from Annihilator some weeks ago (MA has the band listed as split-up which is not true, although from what I know from one of the guitarists, they aren't writing new material, but maybe they'll record the unfinished/unreleased 80's demos they did). I played for some years with one of the guitarists and we did some D.O.D covers when we played at 'El Huevo' (where another D.O.D. member works).

There's also Apostasy which released an Ep a couple of years ago and is re-releasing some old demos via Proselytism.

Hmm, I think Massakre is also working on new material. Although they've been kinda active over the years, their presence on the scene has been pretty sporadic. Same with Necrosis which split up but reformed a some years ago.

Execrator - I believe - is radicated in Gernany or something (or at least some members), but they've been releasing material the last decade too. Although I'm not a fan, Undercroft seems to be doing well there to the point of being signed to Season of Mist (sharing members with Execrator if I remember well).

The guys who has suffered the most IMO are Mar de Grises. Since Juan (vocals, keys) left, they haven't been the same again.

Since we're talking about Chilean bands, what's your take on Torturer? I think the debut is pretty awesome but the rest of their work is really hit and miss for me.

I don't like them, especially the vocals. I know they're recording a new album tho.

I consider Necrosis' The Search way superior and probably is the best pure thrash album released by a chilean band. Betrayed's Tales of War is another good album to check out or Nimrod's demo... maybe Squad's debut if you're into crossover.

Anyway, I think Chile has excelled more in death, black and doom metal.

No love for Pentagram Chile? I'm really enjoying the new album so far. I wouldn't know much about the earlier released demos but this is good stuff. Loving the guitar tone as well.
