I don't know how many of y'all are fans of Mefisto - they were one of the precursors of the Swedish death metal scene, and released two demos in the 80s, for which Bathory might be a good reference. I myself found them through Mike Akerfeldt citing them as a huge influence on Opeth.

Their Facebook page is abuzz with activity, and it sounds like they're finally recording an album. I'm pretty stoked about this. Anyone else dig these guys' demos?

Yes... I am a fan of the demos and I got the Regain Records compilation, which has some pretty damn good stuff. This should be interesting if an actual album is released, and I will, in all likelihood, check it out. Could be a very intriguing record.

I also quite like their demos. However will they keep the same 'feel' in the new music as nearly 30 years ago? (Also some nice pics on their FB page - Sandro and Quorthon, never saw that one before)

Nice.

I just discovered them and recently bought their Megalomnia Puzzle EP.

Definitely an underground early black metal gem from that era.

It will be cool if they can keep the same sound and be a "1st wave black metal" band amongst the newer sounding BM bands these days.

Yeah, pretty cool that they'll play the best local fest here. It's a small 2 days fest but it's always been great. I wrote a review for the 2014 edition if you guys want a feel of the event: http://metantoinemagicalrealm.blogspot. ... -29th.html

I was aware of Mefisto but never checked their stuff, I'll check out The Truth today!
