I'm setting aside specific dollars just so I don't miss out having to go run throw a few dollars into the bank and miss out.

Why does it have to be a European release? This is a one-time pressing and it will certainly be distributed in Europe. Honestly, I don't expect this press run to last long, so I wouldn't really sleep on it if it interests you in the slightest. It's still months away.

Seems this Swede fucked his terminology up. I was referring to distribution in Europe.

How is this band fucking legendary legends? They released 2 fucking demos and no one knew about them til the internet. It's alright to like them and I do like them but legends? I don't think so.

Releasing two demos and being absolutely unknown until the internet is why they are legends. It's the great myth of a little underdog that gets nowhere in life but still manages to produce great art. Many legendary artists have done that.

But none of you would know of this band without the internet. Are they going to get back together and record and EP or a full length? What are some other legendary artists that have recorded a few demos and split up and gotten big? How many bands has Timeghoul influenced soundwise? Can someone please answer these questions I am very confused as to why this band is heralded so highly. It's good music but I am puzzled.

They're "legendary" because they make damn good music. And what does it matter if nobody would know them without the internet? That's another part of why they're so legendary. We live in an exciting and new age where things like bands becoming known solely through internet word-of-text is possible. You don't see that as remarkable?

I'm thinking this new poster is bonged cause he came in this thread and another one bitching directly at me for something else he was arguing. First 2 posts out of the 5 are basically taking up the same arguement that was left off by the other idiot.

And out of his other posts which is basically talking shit on death metal vocalists and talking about taking a punk rock approach to something which is what bonged spoke of often.

Why worry about it? To answer your question we'd have to dig through interviews of many death metal bands to see if they gave a "shout out" to their favourite demo bands. It's not outside of the realm of possibility that this happened; bands hail their favourite demos in interviews all the time and it's plenty likely that some folks heard the Timeghoul demos when they were released...not many, true, but they were probably underground death metal fans and very likely to be in bands as well. Any guesses we would make about influence would be only that...guesses. I listened to some nile last year and I said to my friend, "hey, wonder if these guys ever listened to Timeghoul back in the day?"...but I'm not enough of a Nile fan to really care about asking them.

As long as Andy Sneap stays away from the production, then this release will be insanely awesome. I have heard only a few of their songs off the demos, but I liked every single second of it. With the right production, this release would easily be one of the best all year (or whenever this comes out).

Lots of stuff happening with this. Tracks have been re-mastered for vinyl and CD. Obviously with the original sound kept in mind. Additionally, we have the final artwork penned by Mark Riddick.

Just a bit. They have been remastered to mostly reduce background noise but the original sound has been kept intact.

Yeah, you were dead fucking wrong. This is why I told people to calm themselves before wetting the bed about the new art. Mark used our guidance to perfection and the artwork looks fantastic.

That cover art is so sick. Is the LP going to be one of those super deluxe releases that The Crypt usually does? I can't really afford those and I hope it's just a basic LP.

Post subject:  Re: Timeghoul discography re-release on CD and vinyl

Or at least an option to chose basic or die-hard

Yeah, The Crypt doesn't do two versions. You will get a high quality release.

The CD will be a six panel matte finish digipak on thick card stock.

Typical pressing is 1000 I think. I doubt it will sell out right away - people love Timeghoul but they're still a pretty underground phenomenon.

Typical pressing isn't really 1000. This one is 1000. Between wholesale orders and such, I actually don't expect this press run to last very long. I have quite a few distributors in Asia and European countries that buy wholesale from me for shops and other outlets. For instance, on the Death Strike reissue, I went through over 250 copies to Japan alone before I even received them.

There is quite a bit of buzz around this one considering the amount of time it has taken to finally release this material.

This will be on a six panel matte finish digipak with a booklet. I will provide pre-order info when it's up.

I wouldn't be surprised if this run sold out pretty quickly. Seems like the kind of people who are likely to be interested in Timeghoul are also the kind of people who like having physical copies rather than crappy pirated mp3s. Looking forward to seeing this come to fruition--finally.

Six-panel digipak CD version up for pre-order now. www.darkdescentrecords.com

Timeghoul - Complete Discography Digipak CD

For the first time ever on CD Dark Descent Records proudly presents the complete discography from the legendary Science Fiction / Fantasy Death Metal TIMEGHOUL (USA). Born in the Midwest United States in 1987, Doom’s Lyre remained relatively quiet, recording no material before changing their name. In 1991, Doom’s Lyre, now renamed Timeghoul, set out by releasing two demos; 1992’s Tumultuous Travelings and 1994’s Panaramic Twilight.

Largely ignored and mostly forgotten, these recordings did not receive the recognition they deserved until years later. Timeghoul’s eclectic and complex style of US death metal started to gain momentum within the underground as overlooked and classic material.

Prepare for one of the most unique and complex death metal offerings the early 90's had to offer.

Mark Riddick's fantastic original tri-panel artwork covers this fitting six-panel digipak with matte finish. Additionally, this digipak comes with a six-page folder with lyrics and additional notes. This is a one-time limited edition pressing. Get your copy before it's too late!
