BATHORY!!!!

The Nordland saga was supposed to feature TWO more albums, and considering how I love the two Quorthon managed to complete, I wish we could bring him back so he could at least finish his work on those.

In all things considered, I really wish Ulver's old "Bergtatt - Et Eeventyr i 5 Capitler" line up would be created again. That album is such an amazing piece of work that only that line up has ever done so well. That would be amazing.

Indeed, the chemistry between the musicians, as well as their individual talents, is a beauty on its own.

I really wish Arcturus would get back together with Garm, although he's kind of off his rocker now. You honestly couldn't expect a band to end with something like Sideshow Symphonies.

definitely Arcturus, but doesn't have to be with Garm. You do know Arcturus' songwriter war Sverd all along, right? Poor songwriting and really puny production killed Sideshow Symphonies, not the vocals. I say either Garm or Vortex, just bring Arcturus back :(

Hmm, didn't know that. But I personally think the vocals hurt too; Vortex goes about singing on that CD like he was punched in the nose or kicked in the nuts. Nothing against him otherwise; I'm really fond of his work in Borknagar (namely Quintessence) and Dimmu Borgir. But on SS he wasn't up to snuff.

Sure he had lots of... hmm.. awkward moments on Sideshow.. but the delivery on Shipwrecked Frontier Pioneer was one of his best and Hibernation Sickness Complete was also nicely done. The production kinda made everything on that record sound wimpy, so it's kinda hard to judge. He's done a great job on their dvd though, so I still think he deserves some credit for that and his legendary guest vocals on La Masquerade.

He did indeed do a good job on the DVD, which might be why I'm so irritated that he couldn't do the exact same thing a few months prior.
Masquerade was great too.

I also did like his singing on SFP, but the song itself was much too long and rambled around after the first 2 or 3 minutes. Close, but no cigars.

I really would have liked to have seen Exodus while Zetro was still in the band, preferably right after Tempo of the Damned came out cuz that was the album that introduced me to them. They're still rad with Dukes live but I would have liked to have seen them with Souza. The original BBB lineup would've been tight to experience back in the day as well.

I'm gonna second Windir and Bathory (two more Nordlands would have been awesome, assuming Quorthon wasn't bored of it by then), maybe also Pantera. Metallica with Cliff would be a good one but, like, what if Cliff couldn't "save" the band? What if it would just end up in disappointment for the rabid fans? AJFA was a good album anyway, and the s/t had some rawkin' tunes.

This is probably just fanboyism but Iced Earth's lineup on Alive in Athens sounded tight as fuck and Tarnowski's leads actually improved over the originals.

Lord_Lexy: really? if you go on youtube, you can hear her "sing" wishmaster, sleeping sun and nemo...

Konig_ov_Hel: I have to admit that i haven't seen them live with annette so this is based off of the youtube clips i've seen/heard and its not good.

i also agree with what metallica what could have been if burton was still around

Pathogen. A band that made one album and then broke up a few years later. But goddammit that one album was a masterpiece in non-gay melodeath.

For me, it would have to be Rainbow with Dio, Blackmore, and Powell. Those three were a powerhouse and made some awesome music while they were together but unfortunately Powell died so that can't happen.

Ditto. At least we have 'Rainbow Rising', an utter masterpiece.

Emperor with the 93 lineup would be nice. I always thought Faust's drumming fit their style better, well at least back then. Also, of course, Mayhem circa 1990 with Euronymous but Atilla instead of Dead. I'd love to see what kind of riffs Euro would be making today.

But they are still active.

I would've loved to have seen Rottrevore still active. Hearing an album with the heaviness of Iniquitous, plus a more modern production, would've been damn excellent.

I honestly think Megadeth circa Rust In Peace is alot better .. i mean .. Marty Friedman, Nick Menza and Dave Ellefson is the perfect line-up.

Although Chris Poland is also very good, i just prefer Marty better =)

He is okay, but rather boring. I love Doty's crazy performance on Darkness Descends.

I really, really wish Firewind still had the line-up from the Forged by Fire album... damn. I miss Chity and Stian! Best vocalist and best drummer, respectively, that they've ever had, in my opinion.

I kinda wish the original members of Ensiferum would get back together and do an album with the new line-up.
