^ I never saw it that way. It seems to me an unflinching, harsh look at the Nazis and presenting them as the monsters they are, not sympathizing with them. It's angry, wrathful, spiteful music that attacks the Nazis through looking at them in a realistic view. The Meads are a provocative band, they attack harsh, touchy subjects; I like them for it.

Uriah Heep - Echoes in the Dark

Always loved The Magician's Birthday. Beautiful, folksy rock.

Pantera- 25 Years

The ultimate anti-Father's Day song.

Yeah there are a lot of shitty fathers but there are some good ones like my dad.

NP: Megadeth - Devil's Island (original)

My second favorite song on PS. Very underrated imo.

Fatal's 'Anguish', from their compilation, Retrospective From Hell. The old mantra, 'some things are forgotten for a reason', holds true much too often, but this is solid evidence against that axiom. Great, thrashy death metal from the late 80s that went completely under the radar.

Dream Theater - A Change of Seasons

The opening riff may just be the most badass riff Dream Theater has ever written.

Neuraxis - Imagery

I remember seeing this band a long ass time ago in Chicago, just now got around to re-listening to them, apparently 17 year old me wasn't impressed with them. Can definitely say that opinion has changed. It's the perfect blend of technical and melodic death metal, kinda reminds me of old Kataklysm but more "focused"

Halberd - Remnants of Crumbling Empires

Very good death/doom. Although the drum sound detracts a bit from my listening experience, it's not bad enough to ruin the album. Well done guys

Sarpanitum - Blessed Be My Brothers

Holy gutsfuck. Bought this album on a whim. This is death metal on a grand, cosmic scale. Better than Mithras.

Vorum - Current Mouth

Fast, old school death metal. My first time hearing this band, but liking them so far. There's actually some black metal in this, as far as the vocal production, and the generally not-down-tuned guitars. The riffs are pure DM tho, and the energy is great.

Atrophy - Killing Machine

Socialized Hate is very underrated imo. I remember buying this tape back in the early 90's based solely on the cover. I had never heard of them before but thought the cover looked pretty cool so I just took a chance and got it but I was not disappointed.

Man, I can't believe how brutal Nick Holmes sounds nowadays.

The guy dominated So you Die and I'm tempted to say he sounds better here than Mike did both on record and live with the same song.

His version of Eaten is really good as well!

Not as brutal as Pete's but has a certain ominous feeling that few people portay on vocals.

Thou - Heathen

Pretty damn good sludge metal from down south, and with a hint of black metal.

Nile - Cast Down the Heretic

Giving this band another shot. Saw them live opening for King Diamond in 2006 and wasn't that impressed, wwn the last one and thought it was just not that good as well as being a just horrible sounding album. Never listened to AotW so found it on Prime music and giving it a go.

Anthrax - Schism

One of my favorite tracks on State of Euphoria. I love this album so much and it's not appreciated enough. They lost me after their next release Persistance of Time but there's no denying that they were once a great band. More than worthy of having a spot amongst the Big 4.

Nokturnal Mortum - By Path of the Sun

Dem völkisch feels! How can a song be this good? That folky mid-section is just insane.

Schammasch - Chaos Reigns

From their debut. Dare I say I like this more than the mighty Contradiction? Possibly. The songs are tighter and while maybe not as cinematic as the epics on Contradiction they pack a dense death metal punch.

Even the shitty production cant ruin such a magnificent album.

Let's hope they can!
(2014) Saor - Aura is a quite emotive album for me.

Beast in the Field - Beast in the Field

From the World Ending album. FUCK yeah. Instrumental doom metal from my home state - a vocalist I jam with is good buddies with these dudes and they fucking kill it. They play doom that's pretty close to stoner but don't get caught in the repetitive bluesy Sabbath licks trap - their riffs are monstrous and evil as fuck. This song is over eleven minutes for example but packs a ton of riffs and a really cool, different sounding solo.

Immolation's 'Dawn of Possession', off the album of the same title. Love the track, and the drumming on this album is particularly intense and well-done, but I can't help but notice that Craig Smilowski uses the same exact fill, over and over again...

Carnage - Dark Recollections

Hits a sweet spot for me that only the Nihilist demos share. Dirty, punk-infused Swedish DM -- in Carnage's case, their demos might actually be the better of the two bands, as far as raw ugliness goes.

Galneryus worship with a bit of Hibria thrown in. Pretty good stuff, esp. considering its a demo.

Bell Witch - Suffocation: A Burial

This meanders very well between tranquil and crushing; the unhurried melody of Pallbearer colliding with a ten ton truck of funereal dirge.

Dark Sermon - Rat King
One of the most competent new core bands to come out in ages. This new album sounds vicious and (most importantly) different. Not to mention that artwork looks pretty neat.

Totally man. That shit still rips

NP : Negura Bunget - Măiestrit

I haven't listened to this in quite a while. These guys were glorious back then. Just goes to show that sometimes, change isn't such a good thing.
I'm looking at their new band photo on their MA page and they look like hippy gypsies. No wonder they now make terrible music

Helloween - Kill It

Finally got a real copy of Gambling, so I have almost all the Helloween albums I care about. The instrumental work on this album is really nightmareish and fluid - some of the riffs and leads are woven together quite bizarrely, and it comes out as one of their most unique albums from an instrumental standpoint, like Better than Raw but bigger and louder.

Orphaned Land - Barakah

I'm on a huge walk down the memory lane, and OL is the soundtrack. I can't believe it's taken me 5 good years to fully appreciate every single twist and turn, the genius of OrWarrior. I consider myself lucky to be in a position like that of people back n the eighties, who had their "bigger than life" band (or bands) as something life defining and changing.
