I listened to (2005) Nile - Annihilation of the Wicked and (2002) Nile - In Their Darkened Shrines after recently and STILL prefer the second one.

This album did indeed grew on me after some listens and it's full of memorable melodies!

Project from a guy of Eluveitie. Not so bad, quite surprising it is really done in a black metal way, quite raw.
The bad thing is that it's in a CDr format.

Sentimen Beltza´s last album is quite good, I was going to purchase it after a concert of Nakkiga(main project of the guy behind SB) but they guys were talking to other people and I was too tired to wait.

Musical skills aside, I love how this album sounds.
The instruments sound so raw, yet very audible; then throw in those savage vocals.

That album is a masterpiece. It also has one of the strangest drum works I've ever heard.

Sargeist - Sargeist

I love that this satanic black metal band has some of the happiest melodies I've ever heard. The little diddly after the chorus gets stuck in my head and always puts a smile on my face. It's so stupid, yet so brilliant.

The last riff is incredible, just like the intro.

Destruction- Black Death

My favorite Destruction song. Wish it was a live staple.

Man, the debut was great, and well deserving of it's near 90% review score, but this album is just so much better on every level. Amazing record.

Yeah. I don't know how many bands can put out an excellent record, take a break, return 10 years letter and top that shit.

Jesus christ this is some good shit. The folky riffs are fucking awesome. The vocals are sort of run of the mill death but its still a fucking great song.

Yep, the ten year wait was definitely worth it though. Unbelievably good record.

Playing Sonata Arctica's Stones Grow Her Name in the car - it still holds up, great album full of catchy hard rock/pop tunes.

Dream Theater - Pull Me Under

Specifically the live version from the Bucharest official bootleg. They completely threw me off when, around 4:30 into the song, they speed up to Slayer speeds before shifting right back to the original tempo for the 2nd chorus. Gotta find ways to keep the songs interesting for yourself when you've been playing them every night for years, I guess.

Paradise Lost - Sacrifice the Flame

Love the dense feeling of this. While this album isn't quite as heavy as I'd have hoped it, it's really fucking good anyway with a lot of variety to offer.

The Swedish crunch completes me.

It is brilliant...or, used to be. I think the trick is terribly outplayed now and Anaal Nathrakh are sounding more and more standard. Desideratum is not a bad album by any means, and Vanitas is actually good, but I'm desperate for them to spruce up their formula somehow. I don't have the answers, but I'm growing bored of them now.

Shape of Despair - Monotony Fields

Excellent return from these Finnish masters. Hard to imagine that a decade out of the scene they can come back and produce a monstrous album. The addition of cleans is sparse and works very well, especially in "Descending Inner Night." I do miss the violins but other than that it's great.

Metallica – Harvester of Sorrow
