Do you listen to Sentimen Beltza? Quite a good Basque band, but I don't think I've ever seen you mention them.

I'm REALLY picky with music and can count that basque bands I like with both hands.

Nile - Execration Text
Fucking great. The guitar tone is perfect and those drum rolls go great with my espresso.

I listened to (2005) Nile - Annihilation of the Wicked and (2002) Nile - In Their Darkened Shrines after recently and STILL prefer the second one.

Paien from (2014) Blut Aus Nord - Memoria Vetusta III - Saturnian Poetry.
This album did indeed grew on me after some listens and it's full of memorable melodies!

Sisters of Mercy - Vision Thing

"More" is like the greatest fuckin' song ever. I wish it was twice as long.

Fair enough mate, I've been listening to them lately and was just curious.

NP : Trenchrot - Necronomic Warfare

Old school death metal done right. This album gives off some sort of uplifting vibe, which is very unusual for a death metal album

Macabre Omen : Gods of War - At War

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7WOng8p24Y

Amazing album, one of the best release this year, by far.

Forest of fog : Rabenflug
Forest of fog : Nebelhymnen
Forest of fog : Untergang

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44TKARKvQNg

Project from a guy of Eluveitie. Not so bad, quite surprising it is really done in a black metal way, quite raw.
The bad thing is that it's in a CDr format.

Sentimen Beltza´s last album is quite good, I was going to purchase it after a concert of Nakkiga(main project of the guy behind SB) but they guys were talking to other people and I was too tired to wait. :D

I would have directed the question to you as well, but I thought it wouldn't be your type of thing. I enjoy Nakkiga as well, although to a lesser extent.

NP : Funebrarum - Beneath the Columns of Abandoned Gods

Musical skills aside, I love how this album sounds.
The instruments sound so raw, yet very audible; then throw in those savage vocals.

That album is a masterpiece. It also has one of the strangest drum works I've ever heard.

Sargeist - Sargeist

I love that this satanic black metal band has some of the happiest melodies I've ever heard. The little diddly after the chorus gets stuck in my head and always puts a smile on my face. It's so stupid, yet so brilliant.

I'm not interested in their music.

Have been "all the day" listening to (1979) Dire Straits - Communique (1996 SBM Remaster).

Haha, no problem. I am not a great fan of Nakkiga but they have made a huge improvement from their demos era.

Endlesshade-Wolf will swallow the sun

Great doom/death from Ukraine.

Possessed - Seven Churches

How have I managed to avoid this for so long? Prime death metal right here- and of the thrash infused style too. Masterful.

Macabre Omen - Man of 300 Voices

Man, the debut was great, and well deserving of it's near 90% review score, but this album is just so much better on every level. Amazing record.

Yeah. I don't know how many bands can put out an excellent record, take a break, return 10 years letter and top that shit.

NP : Katavasia - Sacrilegious Testament

It will take a slew of outrageously oustanding releases to nudge this album and Macabre Omen's off my top 5 for the year

Summoning Redemption from (2000) Morbid Angel - Gateways To Annihilation.
Starting to listen to my "non familiar albums" from the band.

Lost Horizon - Sworn in the Metal Wind

I like CHEEEESE and some molten butter, tons of it on top!!! :-D
But seriously Lost Horizon kicks ass. Much fist pumping and even more "get-your-spirits-up" metal quasi self-help. Awesome.

Annica - Badly Dreaming

Female fronted Finnish hard rock. If the unimaginable happened, and I had a late dinner with some girl, this is what I would put in the stereos.

Anaal Nathrakh - Between Piss and Shit We Are Born

Man I love the songs when Dave does his cleans, they work so fucking well as a little reprise from the brutality of the music without ever feeling forced. Brilliant stuff really.

Heathen Foray-Illusion

Jesus christ this is some good shit. The folky riffs are fucking awesome. The vocals are sort of run of the mill death but its still a fucking great song.

Yep, the ten year wait was definitely worth it though. Unbelievably good record.

Bolt Thrower - War

Great stuff, but of course it is - it's mother fucking Bolt Thrower! Going to see them live for the first time in September. Woo!

Not too sure which I prefer more; this or Principal of Evil Made Flesh version.

Aye it's more than cool shit, the album is rock solid. Thanks for bringing this up.

Deathevokation - Acherontic Epitaph

Now I love moments like this when I remember my attention being repeatedly drawn to a band, and still failing to check them out, dumbass that I am. It was for the best perhaps as now I can jump up and down in glee as a wee kid :-D :hyper:

Execration - Odes of the Occult

Man, I could listen to these guys all day. The bursts of tremolo picked melodies, coupled with the blastbeats in the faster sections is just sick

Oh yeah, it's really good for speed metal for sure. Glad I could convert you. And Deathevokation is awesome too, up there with The Chasm for melodic, epic death metal.

Playing Sonata Arctica's Stones Grow Her Name in the car - it still holds up, great album full of catchy hard rock/pop tunes.

Dream Theater - Pull Me Under

Specifically the live version from the Bucharest official bootleg. They completely threw me off when, around 4:30 into the song, they speed up to Slayer speeds before shifting right back to the original tempo for the 2nd chorus. Gotta find ways to keep the songs interesting for yourself when you've been playing them every night for years, I guess.

Paradise Lost - Sacrifice the Flame

Love the dense feeling of this. While this album isn't quite as heavy as I'd have hoped it, it's really fucking good anyway with a lot of variety to offer.

It is brilliant...or, used to be. I think the trick is terribly outplayed now and Anaal Nathrakh are sounding more and more standard. Desideratum is not a bad album by any means, and Vanitas is actually good, but I'm desperate for them to spruce up their formula somehow. I don't have the answers, but I'm growing bored of them now.

Shape of Despair - Monotony Fields

Excellent return from these Finnish masters. Hard to imagine that a decade out of the scene they can come back and produce a monstrous album. The addition of cleans is sparse and works very well, especially in "Descending Inner Night." I do miss the violins but other than that it's great.

Me too!!!

Man, Sarcophagus and Unas slayer of gods must be among the most epic death metal songs ever created.

Carnifex-Salvation is dead

One of the few deathcore band which I can enjoy.
