Carcass - Exhume to Consume, off Symphonies of Sickness You know, this is a pretty weird, unique album, all in all. Nothing quite like it out there, when you think about it. |

Trouble - The Truth Is What Is This band is proof that christian metal doesn't necessarily suck, even though it usually does. |

Skeletonwitch - Reduced to the Failure of Prayer Sometimes you just have to take a minute to appreciate how solid Skeletonwitch are; the Bolt Thrower of this generation of metal. I still need to listen to the new one, but it's on the way in the post, and I've heard a lot of good things. |

Captain Beefheart - Shiny Beast (Bat Chain Puller) Beautifully weird. And that closing poem is just heartbreaking. It was supposed to be about the Captain's growing struggles with MS. |

Savatage - Edge of Thorns I'm always puzzled by the critiques this gets here; it's absolutely wonderful. A masterwork of rock music. |

Convulse - Oceans of Dust The new album is not great, but I think it does pick up a bit towards the end. The start of the album is very mediocre. |

NP: Destroyer 666 - Australian and Anti-Christ Top-notch blasphemous goodness to start off this study-session. |

Virgin Steele - The Final Days Lyrically might not be the most original thing DeFeis ever came up with and I dare to say that this song sounds slightly generic...but man, talking about a fun headbang-worthy tune full of anger here. |

Symphony X - Bastards of the Machine It's a testament to how good they are that they had such good slow, ballad-type songs before, but they clearly always wanted to do a record of songs like this and "Dehumanized." They sound sure of themselves and on fire here. |

That would be a treasure to see live. Long live true black metal, long live Bathory worship, he demands more! Masters Hammer - Duse nesmrtelnych Been spending the last few weekends getting up making a strong cup of tea and sitting down to MH demos, its becoming a RITUAL, hahaha. |
