Pagan's Mind - The Celestine Propecy

I sense a strong Conception influence here. Also I really dig the in-your-face chorus you just can't ignore.

Blasphemy - Fallen Angel of Doom

This has aged really well. A lot of bands make low growls sound funny or cute (even some of the classics), but here Blasphemy genuinely sound like bloodgargling cultists. The production is perfect. Almost every song, the chaos subsides and there's a big shameless rockin' bridge.

Actually I am listening to the same song, haha.

Krallice - Diotima

I actually have never listened to this album in full. I need to remedy that sometime.

Castle - Venus Pentagram

Not too often you here a girl rocking bass and singing in a classic heavy/doom band! Gotta love this stuff. Super solid. Just found out about a band that got together in 2012 from Massachussets along the same vein called Second Grave, but their vocalist plays guitar and sings. Also a lady!!

Infestus - Der Blick hinaus

Mesmirising and bleak black metal. One of Germany's finest.

These bands are very good indeed, I reviewed both of them if you're interested. I believe my review for Second Grave's new EP is the first one for the release too! (on my blog) I really like female fronted doom. The best band is probably Witch Mountain and you should check out Mourn (proto mum doom metal)

NP: Dream Theater - Enigma Machine. I really like the new DT but then I'm a fanboy! There's some cool Rush inspired riffs here, awesome!

Heaven and Hell - The Devil You Know

I think this is only, like, the second or third time I've listened to this album in its entirety ... Hm, should probably change that.

Edited for a single typo.

Funeral - This Barren Skin, from From These Wounds

Just got this album a couple weeks ago, and despite some of the lyrics being a little goofy I really wish I would've picked this one up sooner.

Scanner - The Challenge

Each time I spin one of their first two albums my love for them grows a little bit. Almost flawless earworm music, not terribly "ambitious"/sophisticated but very, very well crafted.

This is one hell of an album. Quite traditional Norwegian Black Metal with great melodies and vocals

Verdunkeln - Die Saat Der Klinge

This is one of those rare bands that I can listen to in any mood and situation.

I should try this.

Shallow from (2008) Lifelover - Konkurs.
Third Lifelover album in a row: (2006) Lifelover - Pulver, (2007) Lifelover - Erotik and, now, (2008) Lifelover - Konkurs.

Grave Miasma - Odori Sepulcrorum.
This album pretty much blew my expectations out of the water, it combines the best elements of their two EPs and adds loads more atmosphere and memorable songs. Seriously check this out if you haven't yet, it was definitely worth the long wait.

Vader - The Black Eye

I remember not being wowed by this when it came out - not sure what I was thinking because this rapes and pillages everything. Except Litany, anyway.

Asmegin - Over Ægirs Vidstragte Sletter.

If there's one guy whose vocals are epic in inmense proportions, he is Lars Nedland. Man, those cleans are epic and 'nordic' as fuck. While I'm a Solefald and Borknagar fan, I think this is his best job ever.

Borknagar's Epic has some insane backing vocals too, like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... A3KQYt6a2U )

el-Ethnic Legist- "アスタルテ"

Not even sure what genre this or how to describe this. Egyptian-themed mix of J-rock, folk, and power metal I guess... fairly weird/unique sounding too.

This is just a sick slab of Death Metal awesomeness. Incredible demo.

Darkspace - Dark Space III

Like being suffocated in space. Nothing but desolation and emptiness as you float through the universe. Hopefully the only thing out there is a cool looking comet and the fourth instalment of this series.
