The Chasm - Cosmic Landscapes of Sorrow

Chasm seriously has the coolest song names/structures/guitar tone/everything. Daniel Corchado sounds like a god damn primordial warrior.

The DVD that comes with the LP makes it seem that way. They nail all of their songs and they actually play with energy. When did you get to see them?

Last friday at Party.San Open Air. I also bought their second album there. I was reluctant to like them first because these grim brvtal high speed norsecore bands tend to be really boring (like Urgehal for example) but Tsjuder obviously know what they doing and how to sustain a mood.

NP: Tsjuder - Eriphion Epistates

Marduk-Panzer Division Marduk

Such a suitably named album. Sums it up perfectly.

Dio ~ Holy Diver

So fucking happy to finally have this on vinyl. Timeless classic.

I've actually been meaning to check out Urgehal haha. Tsjuder seems to be able to build interesting/sometimes complex song structures that set them apart from the intro/verse/chorus/verse/chorus/bridgesolo/chorus norsecore bands that you're referring to.

Word. The Chasm is one of the best Death Metal bands ever.

"Demo 2010" -
Folivore

A sludgy Black Metal band I found on a flier while traveling through Santa Cruz, California. I suppose they sound like Gloam and other Sludge bands from the region.

Don't listen to Inhumanist about Urgehal, he's been to the Veracs school of thought here - they are a very solid band, and upped their game from their relatively simple (but good) debut, and they were consistent in quality. Goatcraft Torment, Through Thick Fog Til Death, Ikonoclast and even the split with Beastcraft are all excellent material, with the earlier albums being still good (if not great). Urgehal are easily in the same league as Tsjuder, whose latest album was somewhat lacking in the song craft area that made Desert Northern Hell such a stormer.

Sepulcral - Drastic Visions

Kinda okayish mid-paced death metal, nothing really standing out here at the moment. Needs more spins...

Helloween - Rise and Fall

I'm honestly laughing right now. I haven't listened to these guys in years, and I completely forgot just how much FUCKING FUN they are! :np:

I just listened to KotSK Pt. II a couple days after years as well. That's always been one of my favorites from the album.

P-Model - Pinky Trick

Basically checking these guys out for the first time. Described as a Japanese Devo, and I can definitely see that comparison although this album is a lot more aggressive (and a hint more angular) on a whole. Quirky and fun punk/new wave-related stuff has been one of my favorite non-metal genres to explore recently.

Urgehal - Gathered Under The Horns

Fast, aggressive and riff loaded black metal. Damn good album.

Mongolian throat singing. Sounds so damn funny.

Fuck you too

I listened to Desert Northern Hell a few times and it just seemed so bland.

PS: School of though, eh? Because Veracs post history is more an agenda of categorical disagreement rather than an expression of cognitive activity I assume?

Relax. It's ok to be wrong once in a while.

Akercocke - Verdelet

This is a smashing death/black metal track - as is the whole album. Damn near perfect.

My favourite is "Post(?)Organic," but that one is a neat track, too. :)

Strapping Young Lad - Alien

Best album by this band, surpassing the ever popular City for sure. It's unfortunate that Devin Townsend won't create anything as hateful in the future, but this is good enough. Kick-ass everything on this one.

Thanks for those suggestions! I can probably find someone on here who is selling some Urgehal CDs.

I listened to Sex & Violence by Verge today. Another great NWN! purchase! The whole mood of the album is so bleak and dismal, yet the musicians didn't resort to hiding behind a bedroom of DSBM clichés. This album actually rocks (the riff in Chains!) and it gets blasty at parts too. I don't like the vocals on this one as much as I do on To Rest the Last Time in Our Filth though. Another superb Verge record either way.

Dysperium - Under Fullmanens Sken

Ordered this album with some others from Red Stream Inc. not too long ago.... So far it has been a pretty decent listen.. Heavy doses of Agalloch worship on the album.

Torture Chain - Mutilating Astral Entities

My first release from this band, rather excellent melodic black metal.

Well said, Verge have been the best black metal band in recent years. The split with BRF is so unusual, but absolutely astounding.

NP: Dawn - Sorgh pa Svarte Vingar Flogh

I believe the intro to this is taken from a classical or folk piece, but I can't figure out what. One of my favorite EPs.

It really is excellent, one of my favorites this year.
Their 2012 demo is also worth checking out.

Krypts - Unending Degradation

Really love this album, but I feel it would have been better if it had some blasting parts, sort of like those on Disma's full length

Bought the album. Very captivating, moody black metal. Thanks to Metantoine for recommending them.

Burzum - Demo I & II

Strangely, despite the lack of vocals, the near-lack of drums, the guitar sounding like a sort of crispy bassguitar, and the horribly quiet or downright silent parts...

I can't stop listening to it!

I have the feeling that, like Manilla Road, the more often I listen to Fates Warning, the better they seem to sound. I'm already really enjoying this album.

Gorguts - Colored Sands. This is the 3rd time I've listened to it in its entirety today and I'm really digging it. I would say its my second favorite from them behind Considered Dead. It feels like a good mix of solid tech death and just a hint of the quirkiness from Obscura, really really great album. Ohh and The Battle of Chamdo is a fucking excellent instrumental piece that feels out of place yet right at home all at the same time.

Control Denied - When Man And Machine Collide demos

All of these unnamed songs are available on youtube. They have no vocals. Really cool stuff nonetheless! :headbang:

EDIT: Here is the one I'm listening to now for people who can't find them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EaCqW5NWghU
Hope you enjoy!

MinstreliX "Beyond the Gates of Death"

Not sure if this is power metal or melodeath, honestly. Pretty interesting stuff, I wish this was a full-length instead of a 3 song single (being Japanese, this costs as much as a goddamn full-length :P).

Hello,
i've joined this forum some Days ago(Thanks to det fæl utyske).I am very thankfull for the Inspiration that's given here.
Actually i am in the "lerning process" about metal and i am trying to find my specific kind of metal.
So at the Moment i'm listening to the Album

"Opeth - My Arms your Hease"

I like the huge spectrum of slow and fast parts, also its more sympfonic, and this evening it's too late for harder Stuff.
