Paradise Lost - Shadowkings

This album has some songs that weren't necessary at all but in general this is a good example of how to play poppy metal. Despite the harsh vocals this is really easy to get into. You've got catchy refrains, leads that will stick in your head for days and basically each song is catchy as hell. Not the best thing the band came up with, but good for what it is.

Ahab - Ahab's Oath

I usually enjoy the first half of Call of the Wretched Sea a little more than the second half, which this track is on, but I'm not sure why; sounds great just now.

Love this song, so catchy and heavy. Deliverance is awesome.

The Residents - Duck Stab album

I just love this album inside and out and sideways. For some reason, the songs just resonate with me.

Metal Church - All Your Sorrows

Masterpeace isn't nearly as uninspired/forgettable as people make it out to be. I don't hear much of anything that comes off as self-plagiarism and the songs are nice and diverse. This particular song has a great, crunchy 5/4 rhythm to it that is up there with the more choppy songs on Blessing in Disguise.

Burzum - Í Heimr Heljar

Why does nobody make music like this anymore? Daudi Baldrs may not be his best but damn it is good.

^My favourite track from that album too.

Myrkr - Consecration Of Rotten Flesh And Decayed Bone

Damn this band is great. Scathing and raw, with killer song craft.

Whaat?!? This album is PERFECT!

For The God Below from (2012) Shining - Redefining Darkness.
And I come back to Shining, again. PERFECT song with perfect attitude and vocals.

Lord Belial-Bleed upon the cross

Crushing and full of cues to Dissection.

Arckanum - Fenris Kindir LP

There's something about this that isn't working for me. I'll keep listening to find out. 4 tracks in and I feel disappointed.

EDIT: I listened to the whole album twice. It has left me completely cold. Utter disappointment. There is nothing exciting to it, it even fails to be interesting during most of its playtime. Honestly, only the last song caught my attention and it's a non-metal outro!

Tropa de Elite by Tihuana from (2007) Tropa de Elite OST.
Someone asked this yesterday at our local pub!
He told me he had been working with the brazilian police (or BOPE).

Essenz - Mundus Numen

These guys play a combo of Doom and Black Metal. It contains more Doom so its slow or mid paced for the most part, but when they speed it up, they do it very well. Nice tremolos and blackened raspy vocals. Very good album

Journey to Ixtlan - Mirage

Fuzzy, droney goodness, with some sort of flute playing a lead. Quite cool stuff.

NP: Imprecation - Theurga Goetia Summa

A comp of demos and EPs that fucking kills, just like their new one, which is quite possibly the best death metal album of the year so far (though the Atomwinter one is also excellent).

Queued:

Anaal Nathrakh - The Codex Necro

The entire 'Nathrakh discography is great (with only Hell Is Empty and Passion not quite living up to the rest), but if I had to pick a single best album of theirs, this would be it.

Disease Process - Disease Process demo

Downloaded this on a whim a while back, thought it was one of the best grind releases of 2011. Not sure what's happened to them since.

Goatpenis - Depleted Ammunition

Handy tip: don't use google images to look for Goatpenis artwork. In fact, that was how I found MA, so I guess it's not all bad.

Belphegor - Lucifer Incestus

The best Belphegor album? Quite possibly.

Currently jamming Fragarak - Savor The Defiance.

For those who don't know, Fragarak is a new progressive death metal band from India and they just released their debut "Crypts of Dissimulation" this year. Any fans of The Chasm or progressive death in general need to check these guys out!

NP: Ulcerate - The Destroyers of All

Ulcerate don't come close to living up to the hype but they're okay-good.

Queued:

V/A - Masters of Misery (A Tribute to Black Sabbath) (first listen)

Normally I don't bother with tribute albums but this was so full of legit legends in their own right I couldn't say no.

White Medal - Yorkshire Steel demo

Excellent black metal from my home county.

Mystic Force - Shipwrecked With The Wicked

Excellent, underrated USPM from the early 90s.

Gra - S/t

I'm listening to this Swedish band for the first time and I'm well pleased with them. Mid paced traditional Black Metal with some nice melodies

Old Man Gloom: No

it's like they took all their awesome doomy hardcore/metalcore and made longer songs and then took all their noise ramblings and put them in more interesting longer pieces instead of interludes.

This and Necrodaemon Terrorsathan are easily their best albums.

np: Varathron - The King of Asine. Crowsreign is such of an underrated album, hellenic black metal of the highest quality!

Art of Gradation "Concentration"

I like Light Bringer more, but this is still pretty good stuff. More light-weight, melodic and straight-forward than "Scenes of Infinity", and the vocals aren't as good as Fuki (no shock there though).

Vanna - Dead Language
Run of the mill post-hardcore, but their melodies are so good, I can't get them out of my head.

Agreed. After Lucifer Incestus they went full retard

np: Ayat - Puking Under Radiant Moonlight (Followed by a Century Long Ejaculation)

The way the vocalist goes "UGHH" reminds me of Tom Warrior lol

NP: Nuclear Death - "Shrieking Terror"

Even the band's demo material is potent insanity. :D Pretty damn death metal-influenced for 1986, if I do say so myself.

Destroyer 666 - Lord of the Wild

Thinking about just covering a bunch of Destroyer 666 songs on drums because there are no drum covers of them on youtube besides mine, lol! One of my favorite bands and they are respectfully responsible for getting me into black/thrash. Savage, primordial, and everything that metal should be!

NP: Genocide - Stench of Burning Death (compilation)

Pre-Repulsion demo comp. Surprisingly clear in production for it, and of course the music itself rules.

Queued:

Iron Angel - Hellish Crossfire

Classic, awesome German speed metal. Highly prominent in the Teutonic thrash thread for good reason.

Diocletian - Doom Cult

Bestial black metal that will undoubtedly once again tear me a new one.

Cause for Alarm - Cause for Alarm EP

I remember little about this but the fact that it was recommended by the excellent Dr Drunk Ruins It For Everyone blog. I've given it a listen in the past but I don't think I was really paying attention at the time.

October Tide - 12 Days of Rain

It might be sunny outside, but hearing this album conjures the imagine of a bleak, raining day. Love those waving guitar leads and acoustic, tranquil pieces in between. Not to mention that Jonas Renske used to be a beast at growling. Besides ''Losing Tomorrow'' this album is pretty much flawless in anyway. Absolutely amazing.

Kalmah - The Trapper

This has to be their best album since The Black Waltz. Especially this song is absolutely orgasmic.
