The chasm - procession to the infraworld

What the hell is an infraworld?

Oh cool, The Chasm. Only listened to Farseeing the Paranormal Abysm and it's easily one of my fav death metal albums.

If you put 'infraworld' in your album title you're cool as shit because no one knows what the fuck that is either.

"S/T" -
Barefoot Surrender

I'm not fond of Folk Punk at all, but I like these types who have more of a Bluegrass thing going on.

Infant Annihilator - Decapitation Fornication

Don't find the video to be pretty funny, but I like this kind of deathcore.

Iron Savior - Tyranny of Steel, off Battering Ram

I do like me a fair amount of Iron Savior, but they tend to be a bit too samey for their own good. This song though..... It's bloody awesome. The perfect amount of Maiden influenced melodies, Priesty sharp riffing, and some modern Helloween vibes mixed together.

That album and Condition Red are seriously first rate PM albums. The rest of their stuff is strictly B-level, but those two albums are pretty much Painkiller-levels of awesome.

Black Sabbath - Sabbath Bloody Sabbath

That riff. That fucking riff!

Actually, it's precisely the debut, Battering Ram and Condition Red which I like the best. Even then though, I don't find them to be consistently great. Always a couple of rather average songs manage to make their way in there. They're a good band, but not one that I can listen to very often.

Candlemass - Gothic Stone / The Well of Souls, off Nightfall

Epicus Doomicus Metallicus might be my favorite Candlemass album, but Nightfall is this close to its levels of greatness. If Johan sang it, I wouldn't be able to decide.....

Spazz - Crush, Kill, Destroy

After a weekend of going through a ton of PV recommendations (thank you Grindcore help thread) I seem to have saved the best for last.

I'm... I'm...

Just tried baroness's blue album. I wasn't impressed. The vocals didn't impress me, and they just come off as shouts. Some of the guitar work was cool, and it was a pretty fun album, except just felt like background music. I can't see myself listening to it again any time soon.

Cryptopsy - Phobophile, off None So Vile

Ah, such a classic. You know, I have a particular love for early Cryptopsy's leads. That strange sort of "Malmsteen soloing in Slayer" vibe is so unique..... Wish more bands tried something similar.

Acolytes of Moros - I Suffer in Silence

Very bleak doom - give this band a few years and they'll concoct an awesome full-length, EP, or additional demos, I reckon.

Helker - Angel, off A.D.N.

A tender ballad about losing one's own child. A father and a mother, both uselessly shouting to an unexistent God "Why?". Powerful stuff, for sure.

Barghest - Shifting Sands

Outstanding black metal from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I got a chance to catch their live set Friday night at a local death metal gig here in Austin, and they were captivating to say the least. A perfect blend of filthy, aggressive black metal with sweeping consonant and dissonant passages throughout. In a way, they remind me of Kvist. So I bought their vinyl split with False, and both Barghest tracks sound just as good live. Highly recommended.

Fozzy - Dark Passenger

Pretty solid melodic rock/metal, with a heavy as FUCK guitar tone and some surprisingly good vocals...nice. Nothing amazing but good.
