Burzum Aske

XD I like how that dude's so clear about making sure the shipping cost is right... like I would care if the guy gave me $3 instead of $5 for shipping if he was paying $1136 for a freaking CD!

Anyone know how much the Psychic scream pressing of Scorn defeat by Sigh is, I found a copy and immediately thought it was a bootleg, but according to the MA page its legitimate.

over here [new zealand] the maximum value of an item in the post is $250 nzd before you have to buy extra insurance [or send it registered/tracked] so maybe the seller is just telling you up front that the postage will be a minimum of $xxx because of the extra insurance etc incurred due to having to send it registered?

1$ for a signed My Chemical Romance album. Lol...
But I got a good deal on Judas Priest - Metalogy box set (although it was stained and stuff)
And once I have enough money, I shall seek out the Sentenced - Coffin box set with their complete discography
But yeah I don't really know much about rarities yet... I probably will start collecting a few after my regular CD collection reaches a decent size.

Superb death metal from Holland. Coincidentally, the last band I mentioned in this thread was also from that country.

Thankfully the great label Memento Mori is reissuing this gem early next year!

Shit man, I want this CD.... and it's freakin' Vertigo Records... the shop I go there regularly in Ottawa!!!!!

What's a reasonable price for a Nocturnus - The Key original promo cassette with a red insert cover? Can't seem to find a copy to compare anywhere.

$787.00, maybe the most I've ever seen a thrash cd go for. The last one on ebay before this went for like $450 I think.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Arbitrater-Dark ... 4161c78334

A new record for this cd, almost as insane as the silences price.

These guys were local to where I'm from (Virginia) and I snagged this cd some years back for a few bucks at a used book and cd store. Had no idea it was worth this much, crazy...

Which are the best ways of being acquainted with the "market" price of an album, checking Ebay and Amazon prices? Or are there some better ways to find the best price for a CD?

I mean, others than asking it here. :p

By the way, are these prices for real or is it inflation speaking? Is the CD worth that much?

There are several price-guide books available...

On the internet, for CDs, checking ebay's "completed listings" will show you sold CDs of the last 30 days. However, you can see a great deal of sold CDs from ebay auctions since January 2011 here: http://heavymetalcd.com/cd_prices
We have now tens of thousands of ebay results in the database and they will never expire. We are working on it very hard and on a daily basis so any feedback is always welcome

$138 and its not even the first pressing, its the second pressing on colored vinyl. Plus the band just repressed the record again and you can buy it on their site for $20 so

It's probably been mention but I've seen copies of Ophidian Wheel by Septicflesh go for up to $350 on Amazon. Didn't realize it was that rare, either that or the one selling it has lost their mind

They usually go for about 50-60 bucks for a more reasonable estimate. Esoptron is their most valuable full length that I've seen, selling often from about 75-100 dollars. Their debut Mystic Places of Dawn doesn't sit too shabby either, especially the limited digipak reissue which I've seen go for 80 dollars (original issue: 45-55$). I think the most valuable release ever by Septicflesh is the Temple of the Lost Race EP (vinyl edition), which sold for 160 dollars on eBay recently.

And yes, I am a Septicflesh fanatic and collector. :-P

%99 of amazon prices are total bullshit, in most cases these sellers do not have the cd and act as a finding service at an exorbitant price.
Some sellers (usually large dealers) also vastly inflate prices since they have the only copy and then drop the price when another seller lists another at a sensible price.

I mean look at this bullshit
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listin ... ition=used
and elitedigital are one of the worst offenders, but the second seller is clearly insane.

Haha, what the christ? Who in their right mind is going to pay a thousand pounds for a CD to someone who has no feedback rating whatsoever? That really sounds suspicious to me, even after you take out the thousand pound price tag.

Though...

I can attest to this in a few cases. A few times, I've bought from Amazon marketplace sellers who refunded my money a week later because they couldn't find the item. I wasn't happy that they effectively wasted my time, but at least they typically own up to it and refund me.

Can't for the life of me figure out the reason this seller has such a high price tag on Antaeus - Cut Your Flesh And Worship Satan cd? It's the reissue too by the look of it, which was limited to 2000 copies, but still...

Ignore that user, all his prices are highly inflated.

I already have that album, in that version (was looking for something else), so it was a touch astounding. Plus, all the other sellers had the same version for much, much less

How the hell does he expect to offload it?

Hey guys, what would you say is a good price for the first two full-lengths by Necromantia? Original presses by Osmose and in mint condition. Just asking. EDIT: On CD, not vinyl or cassette.

From what I've seen at times on Ebay, and mind you that I'm no price tag expert, I'd say around $35 for each would be a decent deal.

Well I'm getting both of them for 50 euros including shipping. That's about 65 bucks. I believe that's a pretty sweet deal!

Not exactly cheap, but yeah it isn't that expensive either if they're really mint as the seller says. Nice purchase mate, be sure to post pics later on. ;)

The price is ok, with a little luck or patience you can get each of the CDs for 15 Euros from time to time.

I've made the mistake of waiting for an item to appear at a cheaper price and lost the last chance to ever get my hands on it. I said that if the price if reasonable and the item is worth it I'll just go for it. And since I'm paying about 20 euros for each one, it wouldn't really make that much of a difference if I found it for 15 ;)
