Got my second copy of Leather Nunn - Take the Night (original pressing)

https://i.redd.it/ka9elomw6n3y.jpg I don't want to post the image here since it's massive and I don't know if you can resize them here.

Manilla Road - Crystal Logic
Manilla Road - The Deluge
Satan's Host - By The Hands Of The Devil
Satan's Host - Virgin Sails
Virgin Steele - The Marriage Of Heaven And Hell - Part One & Part Two
Virgin Steele - The House Of Atreus - Act I & Act II

Image

Desaster - The Arts Of Destruction
Grave Digger - Clash Of The Gods
Hell - Human Remains
Sabbat - History Of A Time To Come
Sabbat - Dreamweaver
Ulcerate - Vermis
Ulcerate - Shrines Of Paralysis

I'm actually really happy about my Sabbat purchases. The first one is rather pricey and a bit harder to find than the follow-up, but I managed to find a used copy at Sonic Boom for $20. The other one was $15 and also used, so not bad.

Nice Manilla Road albums! Are those the new reissues? Also that Hell album is one of the best of the last decade, pretty much flawless!

I just ordered Battle at Helms Deep by Attacker, the original Metal Blade release on vinyl. It's really exciting to me that there are still (supposed) gems of the USPM scene that I haven't heard. Wanted this one for years but it wasn't around on CD. Looks like I've snagged a pretty decent original, VG+/VG+ with the inserts. I'm dying to hear it but I'll wait!

Back In Time hasn't quite grabbed me the way Wild Racer did. I think some of it is a pacing issue. They could have led off with one of the faster numbers I think. I'm still completely obsessed with Wild Racer. Hoping Back in Time joins it at some point.

Oh man, can you actually buy that Pagan Altar album now? Or maybe you always could and I just never did.

From Monday to Wednesday and the list of beers I tried is even longer! I could give you a shout when I'll go back. The train ride to go there was fun but damn the one to go back to Montreal in the dark felt way longer. There's some others MAers from there I'd like to meet like Master_of_Thrash so we could do a pub crusade!

I had never actually listened to Axxion, or even really heard about them until Frost and Fire II this year. I bought the album on CD after their set, and I've been hooked ever since; it's one of my favourite releases of the year. I'll have to check out Wild Racer at some point too!

Yea you can, but it's a pricey one. I paid around $50 for my copy, and that was the cheapest one available on discogs. 100% worth it though!

Yeah, I'd be down. Haha, what beers/pubs did you try out? There are lots of cool independent breweries/brew pubs popping up all over the city. Its great!

Oh man, I don't know if I'd pay $50 for any one CD. I'll have to look into it though. That is a marvelous piece of work.

Oh, it's not a CD. It's the vinyl pressing. I guess I should've specified that haha!

Ah. If I ever get a vinyl player, I'll have to look into that, then.

Yes, they are. They still sound very dated in terms of production, but I think that adds to their charm. Great albums. Still haven't gotten around to the Hell album, but it looks promising.

Yeah, really cool albums, especially the Virgin Steele ones.

Man, you came three days after I left for vacation! I've been wanting to go to Montreal for years, so hopefully I get to do that this year and maybe we can smash some brewskis in the future!

The following came in the mail yesterday and today:

From HHR:
Phobocosm - Bringer of Drought
Neige et Noirceur - Hymnes de la montagne noire and Gouffre onirique et abîmes cosmiques
Borgne - Entraves de l'âme and Royaume des ombres

From Relapse Records:
Amorphis - Tales from the Thousand Lakes
Ulcerate - Shrines of Paralysis + corresponding t-shirt

I'll go back to buying more shit after Christmas.

Well, unless you're talking about that specific release MammothRider got, Shadow Kingdom Records reissued all their albums a couple years back (unless THOSE are hard to find now as well).

We really wanted to hit Bellwoods but it fully packed on a Tuesday night... Small place. We got some of their beers to go since they sell bottles and they were fantastic. We went to The Village Idiot, it was a great pub with some great international beers like Delirium Tremens on tap! We went to eat and drink at Gabby's before going to the ROM and some other places like Les 3 Brasseurs on Yonge/Dundas! Y'all are welcome to Montreal, just hit me up.

Nice nice! Ah, yeah familiar with Bellwoods and been to Les 3 Brasseurs and Gabby's (though in my own area) tons of times. That Les 3 Brasseurs still serves steins is their biggest draw for me though haha Personally for a big selection of local stuff I really like Stout's (Carlton/Parliament) and they've even got board games there too. Quieter place but pretty cool neighbourhood pub with lots of nice local beers. Think my favourite brew pubs/breweries in the city right now are Duggan's, Henderson's (which also has a metal night at the end of every month btw. Keep meaning to check out the metal night myself but somehow never works out, maybe in January), Bandit Brewery and don't mind Louis Cifer's either. Most of them sell bottles and mini and regular growlers too. Still undecided if we'll be heading back to Montreal this winter for a holiday but will shoot you a message if we do :)

Just a heads up: Dark Descent is starting one of its end of year sales tomorrow. I dunno if that means "midnight" or "some time during the day tomorrow when he feels like it," though. Whatever the case, I imagine it'll be the usual 10, 15, or 20% off deals (can't remember the specifics from the last time).

Got these mostly classic rock, alternative rock and hard rock haul on sale:

Image

I also bought these lovely '80s hard rock/metal cassette tapes. The Trash tape actually contains Krokus' The Blitz album.

Image

And just before Xmas, my Black Friday haul from Relapse came! Still waiting for its Nuclear Blast counterpart to arrive though.

How's the new Quartz album? Does it even come close to Stand Up and Fight?

How's the new Quartz album? Does it even come close to Stand Up and Fight?

I think its really good. However, I don't really like Stand Up and Fight, so you may want someone else's opinion.

EDIT: The full album is on youtube, but if you don't want to listen to that much, here is an album teaser right here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sS7KH6ugSFY

The teaser is very representative of the album, so if you dig what you hear there, you will like the album. If not, then you won't.

The latest additions:

4 that I'm very happy to add to the collection.

This kickass 2CD press of Scream Bloody Gore, with a badass embossed slipcase and a huge booklet. I also got the Roadrunner reissue of Symbolic earlier, but I lent it to the bandmate so it couldn't make the picture.

Two of my favorite thrash albums, both original pressings. '87 Atlantic and '86 Capitol, respectively. Extremely glad to have both. My other Taking Over press is some sort of weird German press with a clear plastic tray and a white, glossy CD ( :???: ), and I can't find what it is, so I snagged a real deal copy.

Also, I now own all of the original Kansas records from the debut to Monolith on vinyl. I had Leftoverture and another copy of PoKR already, but now they're all united.
Spoiler: show

To say that those add up to be some of my favorite music of all time is quite the understatement.

And apologies for the huge images. I can spoiler the rest of 'em if it's too obnoxious.
