They're the booklets, if I remember correctly.

Inconcessus Lux Lucis - Crux Lupus Corona
Midnight Odyssey - Firmament
Virvatulet/Gratzug - Split
Midnight Odyssey - Funeral from the Astral Sphere
Spectral Lore - III
Mare Cognitum/Spectral Lore - Sol

Image

Earth and Pillars - Earth I

Got a package from I, Voidhanger, one of the best labels for atmospheric black metal in the world and definitely the best label in Italy. Mare Cognitum, Inconcessus Lux Lucis, Midnight Odyssey, and Spectral Lore are all awesome.

It's also worth noting that Rainbow Demon got the original issues too, instead of the reissues. I don't know if the reissues have better sound, but the new cover art for them is horrible, especially since they are essentially the same damn thing.

Those covers are beyond terrible. The stickers on the jewel cases of the two Pentagram albums and a few others are annoying.

Those are on the jewel cases? I'm used to stickers like that being on the shrink wrap, not the actual cases. That sucks.

At least stickers can be removed and there's stuff you can use to clean any adhesive off the jewel case.

A booklet with crummy cover art isn't quite as easily replaceable unless you're content with printing out the cover you want and just slipping a piece of paper in place of the bad one lol.

Stuff I got this week:

Image

Megadeth - Cryptic Writings
Living Terror - Warfare (free demo after Incantation last night)
Sisters of Mercy - Vision Thing
Black Label Society - The Blessed Hellride
Warlock - Triumph and Agony

All this is way outside my comfort zone, save for that demo, but I got them at an estate sale for cheap so what the hell right?

That Vader shirt, on what kind t-shirt is that printed on? It's not Anvil/Gliden right? Is it softer, and more athletic cut? I'm thinking about ordering this, but only if it's not gliden/anvil crap.

My Heresiarch Waelwulf t-shirt is ultra light or whatever, very thin and quite stretchy "Gildan Heavy Cotton"

Aren't those the best kind though? I hate those really thick, uncomfortable shirts. It feels like you're wearing a paper bag or something.

This Heresiarch one is very thin compared to the usual Gildan stuff.
But yeah those massive Beefy T type shirts are too full on, plus they cost about $50 for a plain one ha ha

I got these in for a friend

Barbatos - Let's Fucking Die! [well that's some naughty artwork!]
Pantera - Power Metal [Russian ultra dodgy bootleg, I need a shower...]

I like it; one of 4 albums I have from them. I can't think of how it sounds off the top of my head, but I wouldn't have bought it if I didn't like it. Though I'd say Goatcraft Torment is probably my favorite of theirs.

Well, you certainly have good taste in glam rock/metal... :-P

I am a longtime Smiths fan of sorts, but I've never checked out The Healers. How is that stuff?

@forestcorpse: What's this 'Sharpening the Thousand Swords'? Demos and outtakes?

Considering this is the first time someone has responded to my glam stuff, I'm not sure if that's sarcasm or not!

Healers - To be honest, I haven't listened to more than two songs on the album. I was going through the 50% off/used section and it was the only rock-looking CD I found, so it was a completely blind purchase. I'll go through it once and let you know how it is.

Usually for the bonus tracks. With older albums, sometimes the mastering is better. As strange as this sounds, sometimes its easier/cheaper for me to get the Japanese pressing than the US or Euro one. Also, I've seen some albums where the Euro/US pressing will have mastering defects which are absent from the Japanese one (eg, Rage "21", Therion "Sitra Ahra", Kalisia "Cybion", etc).

Yeah the Japanese are really anal about the quality of their CDs.. i've only got a handful of Japanese CDs - a couple of Judas Priest ones and Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication and they're all top notch products. Somehow Californication also sounds a bit less brickwalled than the other CDs i've heard of it.

Oh yeah, today I got:

Nargaroth - Herbstleyd
Nargaroth - Rasluka part II
Dragonforce - Sonic Firestorm (2-disc reissue)
Manowar - Into Glory Ride (Music For Nations LP, original pressing)

All i'd be interested in is Battle Hymns and Hail To England. Everything else is digital recordings, so no good on vinyl ;)

Couple others:

Abhoth - The Tide + Demos (Good comp, for completion purposes)
Excruciate/Epitaph - Split Cd (Bootleg, curiosity on my behalf)

Got a couple other unofficials coming in. Just curiosity is all.

A couple of new releases amid stuff I probably am overdue in getting, in some cases by decades.

Image

Deathrow - Deception Ignored
Watchtower - Control and Resistance
Scanner - Hypertrace
Sarpanitum - Blessed Be My Brothers
Melechech - Enki
Swallowed - Lunarterial
Disfigurement - Soul Rot
Ataraxy - Revelations of the Ethereal

The first three were thanks to a half-off Divebomb Recs sale, all reissues obv. Sarpanitum and Melechesh I'm certain will be showing up on my year-end list. The last three are some of the best death metal releases of the last few years which I'd been listening to online for way too long. I was like, why don't I have these yet?
