Another two week period of spending way too much fucking money on vinyl.

7":
-War Ripper - Hell Storm on red & black vinyl
I spent way too much fucking money on this, but then again, I've been searching for this record for so, so long. I like Toxic Holocaust, and I like crust, and I also like this (A LOT). I know a lot of people don't like Joel Grind, but fuck it, this record "rips" (loooooooooooool).
-Slutvomit - Satanic Slut Metal
Sleazy shit like this is awesome. I once heard this demo somewhere, and thought it sounded pretty cool--maybe like an American version of Abigail or Barbatos? Anyway, I went to buy it from HHR the next day, and shit had sold out. Figures. I found this in a local shop for cheap, and it came with a sticker of the cover art that I'll probably regret putting on my car.

12":
-Bathory - Blood Fire Death on white vinyl
Any Bathory going into anyone's record collection is always good--this is the first rule of collecting metal records. This is the 2010 repress with the really crappily-reproduced artwork, but it doesn't look nearly as bad as I've read people on Discogs bitching about. I forgot how much I liked this album, and also how dark it was. These were both good surprises.
-Saxon - Strong Arm of the Law, US version w/ gold foil "promo copy" stamp
I got this at an unexpected local store that caters to the granola, patchouli oil crowd when I went to buy a CD for my father's birthday. I think it was priced at $3, and I needed a record that complemented a night of drinking beer on a Friday night--turns out this album is PERFECT for that. Recommended for all your drunken antics and regrets.
-Atheist - Piece of Time picture disc
A hugely unexpected find at the above-mentioned hippy record store. It was sitting in the used section for who knows how long, priced at $6 and needing an appreciated home. It sounds pretty good for a picture disc (not that I'm a snob about shit like that), and somehow also went well with the Saxon album.
-Priestess - Prior to the Fire with a bunch of extra shit, including a 7"
My girlfriend loves this band, and I was feeling in the mood for getting a few extra relationship points to cash in later. I haven't listened to this yet, but if it's anything like their first album, I'll eat that shit up and love it tenderly and secretly every single day I'm at work. The download card didn't work though.
-The Germs - GI
I've put off picking up this album for a long, long, long time. You've all probably heard it, but it's always a good listen if you appreciate punk in any way at all. This pressing is some Rhino pressing on 180 gram vinyl, not that I can tell the difference in sound. I don't know, heavy vinyl just feels good to me.
-Nuclear Death Terror - Nuclear Death Terror
Fuck yeah. I love this band--aggressive, very metallic, and grim crust. Found used at a local shop for $8, and came with a big poster of the cover art that I probably won't get around to hanging up. If you've never listened to crust before, this is a really, really good place to start.
-Darkthrone - The Underground Resistance
Every other post in the last three pages of this thread has been filled with either this album or the new Suffocation record. I haven't gotten around to listening to it yet, but I'm set to do it today--unfortunately, my pre-order didn't come with a patch. I guess Peaceville must've run out? Cover art looked better than I had thought it would.

In the past couple weeks I've picked up the following:

Crucified Mortals - S/T - Good thrash from my neck of the woods, Cleveland.
Destruktor - Nailed - This is some really heavy shit. I bought it as a blind purchase and am very pleased. Aussies make some good fucking metal. But I think we all knew that.
Evil Army - S/T - Need to give this more attention but so far I like it.
King Diamond - Abigail and Them - Ive been meaning to pick these up for a while. Classics.
Suffocation - Pinnacle of Bedlam - This is as good as everyone says it is. In the two weeks I've had this I've already spun it more than I ever did Blood Oath. Not that Blood Oath is bad, Pinnacle of Bedlam is just that much better.
Van Halen - 1984 - Grew up listening to these guys with my dad. Now I can expose my own child to it.

I've been so busy lately that I had to have it all mail ordered instead of going out and picking it up. I plan to become very well acquainted with all of it tonight.

This album rules hard. If you liked that, check out Funerary Pit, which has members of Destruktor involved. Awesome stuff.

Excellent recommendation! This is exactly what I'm looking for with my metal lately. Do you know if they are planning a full length soon?

Glad you liked it. I unfortunately don't know anything else about them, apart from their killer 7" (which I have). Pity really, as it's some really excellent stuff. However, when it drops, and seeing as how you like Aussie metal, get a hold of Impious Baptism - Wrath Of the Apex Predator

Holy fuck it's good, as are the two 7" before it :metal: :np:

Hey dread, any of those Draug cds for sale?

Had a blast at the Deceased gig tonight. Made two purchases from Mr. Fowley the King himself:

Black Hole - Behind the Gravestone (demo compilation, 3CDs)
Jameson Raid - Just as the Dust Had Settled

He was awesome, friendly, and gave honest opinions on stuff he had stocked. Also was wearing a shirt that said "I <3 Tony Martin-era Sabbath" which was pretty quirky/neat.

Just got back from the Master show and bought Master - Slaves to Society CD/tshirt, directly from Paul Speckmann! That was cool. And they kicked ass of course, but too bad the crowd was a bit dull, must have been tired from all the St. Patrick's Day partying.

I got some bonus bucks to spend. So I spent it (well, the other half comes soon):

Beefheart is an essential part of a healthy musical diet. And I've been sorely lacking. So I figured I'd make up for all the lost time. Can't believe it was 2 years ago my friend showed me him. And I'm only buying the CDs now... *sigh*

CAPTAIN BEEFHEART - The Legendary A&M Sessions (earliest recordings of the band, when Beefheart had just joined. Yeah-- it didn't start out his band. Awesome, eh?)
CAPTAIN BEEFHEART - Safe As Milk (this is the album I know the best. It's also pretty damn tame, but certainly hints at the insanity to come)
CAPTAIN BEEFHEART - The Mirror Man Sessions
CAPTAIN BEEFHEART - Strictly Personal
CAPTAIN BEEFHEART - Trout Mask Replica
CAPTAIN BEEFHEART - Lick My Decals Off, Baby (rare sonbitch cost considerably more than the others)
CAPTAIN BEEFHEART - The Spotlight Kid/Clear Spot (this sonbitch was only put out on CD in a twofer, much to my chagrin)
CAPTAIN BEEFHEART - Unconditionally Guaranteed
CAPTAIN BEEFHEART - Bluejeans & Moonbeams
CAPTAIN BEEFHEART - Shiny Beast
CAPTAIN BEEFHEART - Doc At The Radar Station
CAPTAIN BEEFHEART - Ice Cream For Crow

Also, picked up a ProjeKct 2CD release. I loved the samples I heard from this bitch off YouTube:
KING CRIMSON - Space Groove/Vector Patrol

Found this unholy (and rare) bastard-gem:
TEDDY PENDERGRASS - TP (Love TKO might be the greatest song in the history of music)

And finally, because it's simply about god damned time that I picked up this beast:
WOLFGANG AMADEUS MOZART - Requiem

Edit: improved readability
