Nope, typically they never care.
They only remove restricted cd's like Scorpions - Virgin Killer first, very stupid IMHO.

Post subject:  Re: CD Identification, Matrix & Bootleg Help Thread

I have question about 2 items i have bought recently

1. Trelldom - Til Evighet ... / HNF
there are bunch of reissues from Head Not Found, but mine have strange matrix - XXX001 and something similar to barcode, and 4 pages booklet with poor printing and text of only 2 songs

2. Carbonized - Disharmonization / Pavement
this looks more legit to me, only matrix is missed on discogs, so i would like to check it with somebody who owns this issue
matrix on my CD is (mirrored) 76962322022 DISC MFG, INC (H2) W.O. 31481-1V
no ifpi

Any thoughts about this CDs?

Pictures would help more.

According to description Trelldom don't look legit to me.

Carbonized could be legit, but I need to see the matrix font.

Carbonized looks legit.

Trelldom don't look legit to me.
In case of first CD on HNF I could accept it, that they manufactured it on some unknown little plant.
But in case of 16th release, as cat# is HNF16 I don't very believe that.

I have seen quite strange matrix codes, but all of them are belongs to unknown self-released CDs in early days.

Yeah I agree, it looks pretty suspect: wrong font, generic text and unless it's been resurfaced or kept in a dust proof airtight room in far too good condition for its age.

It needs to be added to Discogs as an unofficial release though so there's a record of its existence.
There's an unofficial LP version of this album: http://www.discogs.com/Trelldom-Til-Evighet/release/4589953

This album doesn't appear to be very hard to find or valuable...

That mould sid code points to Russia

The Sonopress one looks ok but the other one looks very wrong, it may be inverted [like that dodgy Immolation CD I got] the star things look wrong too
Where did you buy it from?

Got both on discogs from http://www.discogs.com/seller/apexmusic, for about 50 usd total

As to first CD - looks like both matrix inverted, on discogs foto and on mine. "Pray" - there are difference on CD printing as well, around central hole.

That Sonopress one is a bit more subtle, given the guy is a known bootleg seller I wouldn't trust it.
I'd be reporting him to Discogs and making a Paypal claim against him too.
He likely has an Ebay account...

Agreed. The font on the SONOPRESS one is also sketchy, too grainy.

Post subject:  Re: CD Identification, Matrix & Bootleg Help Thread

A couple of years ago I got what I assume to be the original European pressing of Asphyx's Last One on Earth for fairy cheap. I'm basing my assumption as to its legitimacy on this Discogs listing: http://www.discogs.com/viewimages?release=598888, which is supposed to be the original European press. Now, my CD looks exactly the same, with the matrix font (spacing between characters & the characters themselves) being exactly spot on.

What I'd like to know is whether this listing truly is legitimate. And, my matrix is positioned slightly differently from the one on discogs in regards to the printed album art (as if it was just slightly moved in a clockwise direction along the circular "matrix space"; like I said, otherwise it looks completely the same). Should this be an issue? I think I read a couple of pages ago that matrix orientation (I think you guys call it as such) can differ between CDs actually pressed at the same plant. Can anyone confirm this?

EDIT: Yeah, the "moved matrix" that I'm talking about is re-positioned in the same way the Spiritual Healing matrix you discussed a couple of pages (page 27) back was. So, this shouldn't be an issue. Right?

Author:  ~Guest 82538 [ Sat Jul 19, 2014 11:37 am ]
Post subject:  Re: CD Identification, Matrix & Bootleg Help Thread

Nope. Matrix orientation has nothing to do with bootlegging. If you found out that it had different spacing in the matrix then yeah, but the clockwise position is a non-issue. ;)

Post subject:  Re: CD Identification, Matrix & Bootleg Help Thread

Ha, thanks. Yeah, the matrix itself looks exactly like the one on Discogs. Guess I'm lucky, since it was a blind purchase.
