Gojira - Toxic Garbage Island
I never thought I'd say this but I actually found a song by Gojira that I like

Such a great album... wish I could appreciate the rest of their catalogue as much...

I think it's one of the weaker ones. What's wrong with the mighty To Embrace The Corpses Bleeding? Great, consistent record. Moonlight Butchery ain't bad either...

Tangorodrim - To The Stench

Filthy, riff-tastic ugliness.

Overkill - Hammerhead

The best possible soundtrack to sewing an Overkill patch onto my jacket.

Overkill - Powersurge

Still sewing. Half the patch sewn on, and only one self-stabbing so far.

The Ruins of Beverast - I Raised this Stone as a Ghastly Memorial

Doesn't really click with me yet. I also wouldn't mind had the production been a bit dirtier here.

Well it's ambient black metal and I'd really say the ambient is dominant, and that it would possibly suffer under bad production. But there's always "Rain Upon The Impure" if that doesn't convince you. Personally production is one of the things I almost don't care about at all and I also fucking love everything Meilenwald is involved in ^^

Prajna - Electrocuted

Zodi made me listen to this band. Zodi leads, I shall follow

EDIT: I approve of this band and EP.

Fates Warning - Guardian, off Awaken the Guardian

Ethereal, mystical, overwhelming beauty. Certainly sublime, seemingly divine.

Tom Waits - Gun Street Girl

The long length and rather minimalistic nature of Rain Dogs is always a bit intimidating but when I play it, it's pure magic.

Moon - Forest Samhain

I think I'm starting to hit the wall a bit on DSBM or "bedroom BM" a la Xasthur and the like, because Moon's album Caduceus Chalice just isn't doing it for me right now. Maybe I'll put it away and try it again another day.

If it's sunny out, and there's ponies singing in your backyard, then I wouldn't expect any depressive black metal to work.

The Great Old Ones - Visions of Rlyeh

Excellent post black metal. Anyone who digs Wolves in the Throne Room or other Cascadian bands should definitely give this a listen.

Good old-fashioned fun.

While Heaven Wept - Vast Oceans Lachrymose. Is it just me or does the vocalist kind of sound like John Arch during certain parts of this album? Either way, it's tremendous.

"The Furthest Shore" is my (obvious) favorite song from them, and holy shit. That's how you end a song, ladies and gentlemen.

Sonata Arctica - 8th Commandment

Sorry Silence and Winterheart's Guild. You ain't got nothin' on this.

Horseback - Mithras

Really, really digging this band. What a unique sound. I feel like I'm all mixed-up in some bizarre Italian western with a blackened/noise soundtrack. Love it.

Probably the only time I will ever fully agree with both of you guys.

Was playing Tom Waits - Last Leaf in the car; Bad as Me seems a lot more straightforward than the other stuff I've heard from him. I love a good bluesy ballad, but I think this album has too many.

Whourkr - 4247 Crazy album, as is expected for them. But I have to say I expected another dose of mindblowing originality. They only try a few new things and mostly stick to their established formula (which I suppose is crazy enough as it is)

I am super keen for this. It's coming in the mail!

Ron Jarzombek - Solitarily Speaking In Theoretical Confinement

Awesome mish-mash of Jarzombek flair. One of his best creations along with Ink Complete.
