The name WAYD does not mean anything in particular. According to band members, it is an acronym of an expression that is impossible to translate. It was invented by drummer Brano Kosa. Guitarist Richard Mayer said in an interview that he signs his online posts as “Wajda” – which is the title of the head of a gypsy community or a village. Although it is a joke, it is not meant to be derogative.
