Thee Plague of Gentlemen split up in 2006 when Steve MacMillan (Steven Wackenier) was arrested on child molestation charges. He was later sentenced for indecent exposure but not rape.

The other members started a new band called Serpentcult (the intended title of Thee Plague of Gentlemen's second full-length) which is the same musical style, but with a female vocalist.
