The band name is taken from the Cianide song "Gates of Slumber".

After Jason McCash quit, Karl Simon decided to end the band.

Karl Simon formed Wretch (named after the last TGoS album), while Jason McCash had plans of releasing songs he wrote for TGoS under a new name.
