The band started out playing hardcore punk, but today The Exploited are one of the U.K.'s most politically outspoken thrash bands.

In 2003, while on a North American tour, the band was denied entry into Canada just hours before their Montreal show. As a result, some of their fans rioted, resulting in several cars being burned, shop windows being smashed, and a few arrests.
