Their original moniker (until 1998) was Crown of Thorns for the band's first two albums, which had to be changed due to the US band Crown of Thorns threatening legal action.

Tomas Lindberg performed guest vocals on one song on Deathrace King before replacing Johan Lindstrand for Crowned in Terror. Lindstrand rejoined The Crown after this and the album was rerecorded as Crowned Unholy.
