Originally formed in 2007 as "Mortua" by Conchobar and a bassist known as Morgoth, later recruiting Niall and Masteron as well as several drummers. The band changed their name to "Stob Dearg" in 2010 because of lineup and stylistic changes and then Herewulf joined on drums. Some of the songs on the "Nocturnal Witchcraft" demo were written before the name change.
