Shinray rose from the ashes of former bands called Earthquake and Astron. Those bands were run in highschool by Benoit Serraillier (guitar), Guillaume Mazzilli (guitar, vocals), William Degryse (drums), Gregoire Jouanneaux (bass) and Manu Campistani (vocals), who were accompanied by Benjamin Dupré (keys and vocals).
