The band started with another name playing grunge-influenced hard rock. NorthWorld play their melodic heavy metal with strong influences from viking and folk metal. The vocals are done with a thrashy attitude, so NorthWorld is not a power metal band.

Perttu Kurttila handled the drums while Henry Moisala was in army.
