Lomera emerged from a year long songwriting collaboration between guitarrist Reggie Barber and singer Matt Power. Once they had some songs ready, Brad Kimber (drums), Rick Swain (bass) and Jason Higson (rhythm guitars and backing vocals) were recruited to complete the lineup.
