Jackal had immediate European and Japanese success with the release of their first album on EMI. Unfortunately, label difficulties dogged the band after that.

Vocalist Brian Rich was replaced by Carsten Olsen in 1996, but the band immediately became Encore with new bass player Jesper Bang replacing Søren Hee Johansen.

In April 2013 it was reported that Brian Rich had committed suicide.
