GWAR have played various music styles throughout their career like punk, hard rock, and metal.

Started as a punk band known as Death Piggy in 1982, and started giving costumed performances under the name Gwaaarrrgghhlllgh in 1984, which was quickly shortened to GWAR. The band occasionally performs as RAWG, essentially GWAR without the costumes, often due to limited stage space.
