Originally known as Gadrel, but changed their name in 2004. The band formed after the disbanding over several members' previous band, Narayan.

Although band members are now involved in and focusing on other projects, Glass Casket is technically not split up. They still play around two shows a year since 2005 and there are still plans to release a third album in the indefinite future.
