In Greek mythology, the river Phlegethon (flamming) was one of the five rivers in the infernal regions of the underworld, along with the rivers Styx, Lethe, Cocytus, and Acheron.

Members of Flegethon were also involved in a Grindcore band called Grinding Disgust.
