Estandarte began in 2003, playing Heavy/Thrash Metal covers. In 2005 they started their symphonic epic era.

The band split up in 2007. In 2010, their last line-up reunited again and formed a new band called Ad Libitum, but in September 2011 due to right issues the band finally changed their name to Clair de Lune.
