The band was formed by brothers Dave and Troy Thompson. In 1981 they started the band Matrix, and released 4 independent albums/demos using this name. Then in 1986 they landed a record deal with Pure Metal Records. They decided to change their name to Bride.

Has taken a non-metal direction in recent years, experimenting with blues and mallcore.
