The idea of Autumn Inspiration started late 2001. Martin Thoresen wrote the lyrics to what was going to be the first A.I. song: "...Into Madness". He asked his cousin, Øystein Thomas Buer, to write the music. They both had a lot of love for the progressive genre and the idea was to write a progressive song.
