The band was formed in the summer of 1993 by Martin Qvist and Magnus Carlsson. The band split-up August 16, 2006; later reformed. They released an EP in 2009 titled "The Suicide Note".

Magnus Carlsson is not to be confused with Altar's vocalist/bassist.

The band announced their reformation on their Myspace page on January 31st, 2013.
