The band was formed after the demise of At the Gates.

The Haunted are the winners of two Swedish Grammy's in 2003 in the category of "Best Hard Rock Band". The album "One Kill Wonder" helped them in winning two Grammy's.

Anders Björler left the band for a short time in 2001 before returning to help in the recording of One Kill Wonder.

On October 5, 2003, Marco Aro announced his departure from the band to concentrate on his family. His replacement is none other than the singer he replaced, Peter Dolving.
