Abstrakt Algebra was founded upon the initial breakup of Candlemass by bass player Leif Edling.

Second Abstrakt Algebra album was recorded, but not released (due to poor production), until 2006, when it was added as a bonus disc for re-release of Candlemass' Dactylis Glomerata album (released by GMR Records).
