The band announced their closing on May 18th 2010 citing that they had achieved all they had set out to do. They will continue to finish their current tour before parting ways.
In their early days, Isis were a sludge/post-hardcore band. They later moved on to a more post-rock oriented, atmospheric sound.
Isis is a female goddess in the Egyptian mythology. She was worshipped as the archetypal wife and mother, a symbol of womanhood also.
Aaron Turner is the owner of Hydra Head Records, which is home to bands like Pelican and Jesu. |
