Various members used to be in other Latvian black metal band Alfheim, and they performed with virtually the same line-up as Dark Reign. Heresiarh shy off the connection with Dark Reign because of the feud between the founding member "Venom" and the rest of the band. Dark Reign line-up included "Venom" (bass, vocals), "Dzhonis" (ex-Rusa) and "Slayer" (Alfheim).
The band refers to their sound as "Romantic Dragon Metal"
