Formed right after Johnny Hedlund left Nihilist (Swe) for the reason that he wanted to do bass and lead vocals in a band and not only be a bass player.

Unleashed are credited to be one of the first few death metal groups to write songs about history/viking/scandinavian heritage and not write about the very stereotypical gory/death or negative based lyrics.
