In 2002, an Exodus fan by the name of Juergen Kappel (a paleontologist from an area near Muenster, Germany) decided to name a trace fossil of a previously-unknown form after the singer.
The new species, which Kappel came across during his research, was named "Laqueichnus Baloffi".
