Biography
English musician and songwriter. Butler is best known as the bassist and lyricist of heavy metal band Black Sabbath. Incorporating the innovative techniques like string bending and using effects, he laid the groundwork for metal bass, and songwriting in general. He retired from music in June 2022.Butler is an avowed vegan and appeared in an advertisement for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) in 2009.
Guested with Dio on August 28th, 1990 in Minneapolis, Minnesota (playing 'Neon Knights'). This appearance effectively became the catalyst for the Mob Rules-era Black Sabbath reunion that led to the 'Dehumanizer' album.
